    ST. LOUIS — New brands Budweiser Black Crown and Beck’s Sapphire will make their national television debut with 30-second ad spots which will air during Super Bowl XLVII on Sunday, February 3 on CBS, Anheuser-Busch announced.

    Levi’s latest New York City location, in SoHo, has a rustic feel, enhanced by the use of wood and other materials. Designed by MBH Architects, the 12,683-sq. ft. store features tent-like dressing rooms and lighting fixtures made of rope. The "fit bar" is a table made of natural wood logs.

     

  • SWAT team ends hostage drama at Nordstrom Rack in Los Angeles

    New York -- Two armed men invaded a Nordstrom Rack in Los Angeles on Thursday night and took 14 employees captive, sexually assaulting one, injuring three others and locking the detainees in a storage room for hours, the Los Angeles Times reported.

    The hours-long hostage drama ended early Friday with a police SWAT team surging into the shop and rescuing 14 workers. The armed men escaped.

  • Lowe’s gets smart about water heaters

    ASHLAND CITY, Tenn. — Lowe’s is teaming up with American Water Heaters to offer homeowners the ability to remotely control their water heaters from their smart phones or tablets.

    Iris is Lowe's exclusive smart home solution allows homeowners to monitor and control virtually everything in the home, including Energy Smart electric water heaters, which will feature Iris-compatible control modules. Homeowners can use the controls to set water temperatures and select operating modes, including the "Vacation" mode.

  • Walgreens shares vision for 2013 and beyond

    CHICAGO — "[The year] 2012 was definitely an important year for Walgreens," Greg Wasson, Walgreens president and CEO, told shareholders here, at the Navy Pier, Wednesday afternoon, at the chain's annual shareholder meeting. "We did make some tough choices to protect and solidify … our position for the long term," he said.   • Destination Maternity opens first Canada location

    Philadelphia -- Destination Maternity Corp. said it is opening its first Destination Maternity store in Canada on Thursday in Calgary, Alberta, at the Kingsland Village retail development.

    The store will debut its A Pea in the Pod brand in Canada.

  • Report: December saw slowest spending growth in three years

    Atlanta -- Consumer spending reached a three-year low during the month of December, according to a report released Thursday by First Data Corp.

    First Data’s SpendTrend tracks same-store consumer spending by credit, signature debit, PIN debit, EBT, closed-loop prepaid cards and checks at U.S. merchant locations.
