  • Kohl's taps Oracle for integrated solutions

    REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. — Kohl's has engaged Oracle's services to integrate core retail operations across the company's 1,146 stores in 49 states.

    Oracle solutions will help Kohl's by providing an integrated, scalable retail suite of applications to streamline merchandising and planning while enabling its multi-channel growth strategy.

  • Ikea FY sales up, continues remodel of Marketplace

    CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa.  — Ikea reported that sales for its fiscal year 2012 grew by 9.5% and profits were up 8% to $4.2 billion, thanks to its model of offering low-cost, functional furniture. Comparable-store sales were up 8% at its U.S. stores.

    New York -- Pervasive computing, the ability to digitally engage and interact (via your mobile devices) with enabled objects around you, ranks among the top technology trend that will impact businesses this year, according to PwC’s just released “2013 Top 10 Technology Trends for Business” report.

  • TPN adds Shamberg to team

    Retail marketing agency, TPN, part of the Diversified Agency Services division of Omnicom, named Scott Shamberg SVP of growth and emerging commerce.

    TPN said the addition of Shamberg would help the firm stay ahead of the curve as the retail and commerce landscape continues to evolve.

  • More store closings for Blockbuster

    DALLAS  — The growing popularity of Netflix, Hulu and other on-demand video rental services continues to take a toll on traditional brick-and-mortar video rental stores. 

    Dish Network reported that its subsidiary, Blockbuster will close about 300 of its stores in the United States in the coming weeks. The closures will result in the loss of about 3,000 jobs and leave the chain with some 500 U.S. locations.

  • PetSmart announces management succession; new CEO to take reins in June

    Phoenix -- PetSmart on Tuesday announced its planned management succession plan. The company said that following its annual shareholders meeting on June 14, 2013, current president and COO David K. Lenhardt will be promoted to CEO and simultaneously join the board of directors. At that time, current chairman and CEO Bob Moran will vacate the CEO's chair and become executive chairman.

  • Demandware fits Ecco shoes e-commerce needs

    The Ecco shoe brand has engaged the services of Demandware to power its new U.S. e-commerce and mobile commerce site. The company also plans to use Demandware’s cloud platform to quickly and efficiently expand internationally, beginning with Canada.

    Ecco products are sold online and in 4,000 branded locations in more than 90 countries.
