  • Expansion-minded rue21 opens its 1,000th store

    Warrendale, Pa. -- Rue21 on Thursday celebrated the opening of its 1,000th store. Located in the Enid Crossing Shopping Center in Enid, Okla., the location is one of the company's new rueGuy format stores and features an expanded assortment of young men's apparel and accessories in addition to the girls' apparel, jewelry, footwear and beauty product.

  • October metrics suggest higher holiday spending, lower traffic

    San Francisco – Several key retail customer metrics during October 2013 indicate holiday spending will rise this year compared to last year, even as holiday store traffic levels decline. According to data on nearly 20 million domestic shopping sessions during October analyzed by in-store retail analytics technology provider Euclid, window conversion in October, defined as the number of shoppers that enter a store as a percentage of the total foot traffic, rose to 8.3% from 6.5% last year, but decreased from 8.7% in September 2013.

  • Barnett Capital sells The Shoppes at Prime Village

    Chicago — Barnett Capital has sold The Shoppes at Prime Village in Schaumburg, Ill., to Integris Ventures for approximately $7.25 million, according to CBRE, which represented Barnett in the transaction.

    The acquisition is the first for Integris Ventures in the Chicago area.

    Built in 2008, the 38,313-sq.-ft. center is anchored by Aldi. Other tenants include Chicago Prime Steakhouse and Culvers.

  • Stan Sheetz inducted into Convenience Retailer Hall of Fame

    Chairman of Sheetz Convenience Restaurants, Stan Sheetz, has been inducted into the Convenience Store News Hall of Fame in recognition of his accomplishments in the convenience retail industry. The reception and dinner was recently held at the Hershey Country Club in Hershey, Pa.

    Sheetz received honors for his contributions to U.S. and international business, and his transformation of the company founded by his father Bob Sheetz, from a convenience store into a chain of more than 460 "convenience restaurants."

  • Gordon Brothers names co-presidents of its retail division

    Boston -- Gordon Brothers Group, a global advisory, restructuring and investment firm specializing in the retail, consumer products, industrial and real estate sectors announced that Robert E. Grosskopf and Richard P. Edwards have been appointed co-presidents of the retail division. They will jointly assume responsibility for the division's growth strategy while overseeing all client engagements and daily operations.

  • Wal-Mart Q3 profit up but U.S. same-store sales down; cuts full-year outlook

    Bentonville, Ark. – Wal-Mart Stores on Thursday posted a 2.8% increase in its third-quarter profit. But the chain cut its annual outlook for the second time in three months as its core shoppers continue to feel economic pressures.

    Under Armour is in the process of acquiring MapMyFitness, a fitness technology company powering one of the world's largest digital fitness communities.

    Under Armour will leverage the fitness platform to expand its digital capabilities.     New York -- Isis, the mobile commerce joint venture created by AT&T Mobility, T-Mobile USA, Inc. and Verizon Wireless, today released the latest version of the Isis Mobile Wallet. The m-commerce app is now available to consumers for download in the Google Play app store and at thousands of AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless retail stores nationwide.
