    Palo Alto, Calif. – SAP is opening HanaHaus, a new cafe and community workspace that aims to foster a culture of technology innovation, on March 19. Located in Palo Alto, California, HanaHaus seeks to become a central hub of activity that supports new thinking and entrepreneurial energy.

  • ECRM hosts Bi-Lo, suppliers at grocery event

    Business innovation and technology leader Efficient Collaborative Retail Marketing (ECRM) hosted a category review for Bi-Lo Holdings at ECRM’s Snack & Dry Grocery event in February.

    Bi-Lo, which operates approximately 800 stores under the Bi-Lo, Harveys, and Winn-Dixie supermarket banners, met with more than 70 suppliers over three days, including potential participants in its Supplier Diversity Program.

  • Burlington Stores beats Street with strong Q4; will open 25 net stores

    Burlington, N.J. – Burlington Stores Inc. beat Wall Street expectations for earnings and sales in a strong fourth quarter of fiscal 2014. Reductions in store payroll and advertising helped drive a net income increase of 49% to $94.86 million, from $63.58 million.

    Burlington Stores plans to open 25 net new stores in fiscal 2015.

    Total revenue grew 10% to $1.5 billion from $1.34 billion. Same-store sales rose 6.7%

  • DSW stepping up its game for 2015

    DSW Inc. says it plans to open as many as 35 new stores this year after reporting that its profits shot up 10% in the fourth quarter.

    The specialty footwear retailer reported net income of $30.8 million, up 10% from $28.1 million the same quarter a year earlier. Cost of sales grew at a slower pace than actual sales, helping boost profits.

  • Survey: Online buying to skyrocket in 2015

    New York -- Retail CFOs expect U.S. consumers’ feverish appetite for online buying to continue its strong upward trajectory in 2015. According to a recent BDO USA survey, nearly four out of five (78%) retail chief financial officers anticipate their online sales to grow. Overall, CFOs forecast an impressive 9.9% boost to e-commerce sales this year. This projected increase comes after the Commerce Department’s estimate of a record-breaking $304.9 billion in U.S. online sales in 2014.
     

  • Dick’s Last Resort to open first Ohio location

    Columbus, Ohio - Nationwide Realty Investors has announced that Nashville, Tennessee-based Dick’s Last Resort will open its first Ohio location in the Arena District in summer 2015. Dick’s Last Resort will occupy 7,300-sq.-ft. in the first floor of a building adjacent to Nationwide Arena and will include an outdoor patio with seating for more than 130 people

  • Drizly updates app, site, branding

    Boston – Omnichannel beer/wine/liquor delivery service Drizly is relaunching its mobile app, website and branding. New features of the site and app include ratings, reviews and rich media content; storable “favorite” orders and address books; smart searches that deliver results as users type; and the ability to share Drizly with friends and send gifts.

    Drizly’s new digital interface also enables immersive brand experiences with alcohol products; rich content placements; and sponsored listings.

  • True Value shows true colors for St. Patrick's Day

    Chicago-based True Value Co. showed its true colors -- and legacy when it comes to producing and selling paint -- on Monday during the city’s annual St. Patrick’s Day parade.

    The company erected a 40-foot-tall True Value paint stick and stuck it in the water on the northeast corner of Michigan Avenue. The paint stick stunt was conceived by MARC USA Chicago to leverage True Value’s first time as a sponsor of the annual event. The paint stick will be embossed with the line, “The Value Of The Perfect Color.”
