  • Sports Authority partners with Simplr for online warranty

    Englewood, Colo. – Sports Authority Inc. is partnering with online protection plan provider Simplr to let customers protect new purchases. The product enables customers who purchase a protection plan to repair or replace a covered piece of sports equipment – such as treadmills, bikes, or golf clubs.  

    There are no deductibles, repair costs, or hidden fees. Shoppers file a claim online. The three step claims process is straightforward and can be completed online any time, day or night:

  • Instacart now delivering groceries in Miami

    Online grocery delivery service Instacart has had to add boats to its fleet of vehicles now that the growing company has decided to launch in Miami.

    Customers in Miami can now order from Whole Foods Market, Costco, Winn-Dixie, BJ'S Wholesale Club and Petco stores and have everything delivered by Instacart in as little as one hour. Instacart customers do not need a Costco or BJ's membership to shop from those stores.

  • Survey: Gift cards are the present of choice for consumers this season

    Washington, D.C. – Summertime is almost here, and consumers are planning to give the easy and convenient present of a gift card. More than 70% of shoppers will be giving gift cards this spring and summer during the assortment of gift-giving holidays that are approaching, including graduations, Father’s Day, and weddings.

    New research from the Retail Gift Card Association (RGCA) also confirms that the gifts remain popular with recipients as well, with 95% of consumers hoping to receive gift cards this spring and summer season.

  • Government recommends $25 million settlement for PayPal

    San Jose, Calif. – PayPal may have to fork over $25 million in a proposed settlement for allegedly deceiving consumers with the PayPal Credit service, formerly known as BillMeLater. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau wants PayPal to refund $15 million to consumers and pay an additional $10 million in fines for signing up consumers who did not want to participate, not honoring promotional offers, unfairly leading PayPal customers to use PayPal Credit, and charging consumers fees during periods of time disputes were improperly handled.

  • Stage Stores shrinks loss and revenue in Q1

    Houston – Stage Stores Inc. beat Wall Street expectations with a loss but missed with decidedly revenue in the first quarter of fiscal 2015. The retailer reported net loss of $8.64 million, an improvement from a net loss of $18.79 million the same quarter a year earlier.
