  • Welco signs Fairway Market for Brooklyn center

    New Rochelle, N.Y. - Welco Realty Inc., an XTeam partner, has signed an approximately a 50,000-sq.-ft. lease with supermarket chain Fairway Market at Georgetowne Shopping Center in Brooklyn. New York.

    Welco represented both the landlord, Astoria Holding Corp., and tenant in this transaction.

  • Survey: Thrift store customers want, don’t need, savings

    Bellevue, Wash. – Thrift shop customers appreciate the deep savings, but most of them do not shop out of necessity.

    According to a new survey of 1,001 U.S. adults from the Savers thrift shop chain, 76% of Americans are choosing thrift with the top two reasons being that it’s cost-effective and feels like a treasure hunt. The new data about Americans’ shopping behaviors also highlights:  

    • 77% agree that it’s important that they get a good deal or value on the items they buy.

  • Build-A-Bear builds a better financial quarter

    Build-A-Bear's recent push to reinvigorate its fading brand seems to be working as the retailer reported a big increase in same store sales in the second quarter. 

  • First ground-up development planned as Conscious Place Initiative for Texas developer

    Fort Worth, Texas -- Trademark Property Co. announced its Waterside mixed-use development, located in Fort Worth, Texas, will be the first ground-up project developed as part of Trademark’s Conscious Place initiative; a stakeholder-driven development model that aims to ensure that its properties are more than just places of commerce, but also places of community and meaning.

  • Stein Mart keeps steady growth going

    Off-price shop Stein Mart's strategy of just the right product, at just the right price, at just the right time seems to be working as the retailer reported another quarterly increase in same store sales.

    Stein Mart Inc. reported rising total sales in the second quarter ended Aug. 1. Total sales for the quarter rose 4% to $311.6 million, from $298.1 million. Same store sales for the quarter rose 3%.

  • Retailers show off their marketing expertise

    New York -- Some of the most creative retailers in marketing were recognized by Experian Marketing Services in its inaugural #SuiteLife Awards.

    Among the recipients of the #SuiteLife Awards, a play on Experian’s suite of marketing solutions, were American Eagle Outfitters, Neiman Marcus, Bass Pro Shops, Finish Line and Foot Locker. The awards were presented at Experian’s recently held marketing summit attended by more than 1,000 people in Las Vegas.

  • Two grocery-anchored shopping centers acquired

    Cincinnati -- Phillips Edison Grocery Center REIT II, Inc. announced it has acquired Plano Market Street in Plano, Texas, and The West Acres Shopping Center in Fresno, California, for a collective $57.1 million, totaling more than 253,038 sq. ft.

    Plano Market Street is a 169,624 sq. ft. grocery store-anchored shopping center in Plano, Texas, just outside Dallas. The center is 94.2% leased, anchored by Market Street and retailers World of Beer, Tony & Guy, and the Little Gym.
