  • Generous donation supports Goodwill effort

    Goodwill Industries of Arkansas received a $350,000 grant this week thanks to the Walmart Foundation and the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G.

    Goodwill is the primary charitable beneficiary of this year’s Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G, which got underway this week amid triple digit temperatures at the Pinnacle Country Club in Rogers, Ark. The funds the organization received will be used to support a program called Providing Opportunities for Women through Education and Resources (POWER).

  • SC Johnson enhances portfolio with Space Bag

    RACINE, Wis. — SC Johnson has reached an agreement to acquire ITW's (ITW) global Space Bag brand and related assets.

    "We're thrilled to add Space Bag to our family of long-respected, leading household brands," said Fisk Johnson, chairman and CEO of SC Johnson. "It will enable us to strengthen our home storage offerings and it's a natural complement to our Ziploc Brand business."

  • Moen names global design director

    Faucet manufacturer Moen Inc. promoted Ji Kim to director of global design, effective immediately. In her new role, Kim will be responsible for providing design leadership and vision for the global design team at Moen. She will set and drive strategy for product design in several countries for categories including faucets, showerheads, accessories and bath safety items.

  • Jones Group names head of international strategy

    NEW YORK — The Jones Group has appointed Scott Bowman to the newly created role of group president global retail and international development, effective immediately. Bowman will oversee the international strategy and operations of retail and licensing for the company's portfolio of fashion brands.  He will report to Richard Dickson, president and CEO of branded businesses at The Jones Group.

  • Nike revenues soar in Q4, but EPS down

    BEAVERTON, Ore. — Nike reported that fourth quarter revenues rose 12%t, or 14% on a currency neutral basis, to $6.5 billion, the largest revenue quarter in the company's history. This was a result of higher revenues across every Nke brand geography, key category and product type.

    Family Dollar’s third quarter results were not as good as expected, but only marginally so, and the company’s growth strategy and potential to steal traffic from Walmart remain intact.

  • Finish Line comps up 8% in Q1

    INDIANAPOLIS — The Finish Line reported first quarter net sales of $319 million, an increase of 6.5% from the same period last year. Comparable-store sales were up 8% on top of a 6.5% increase last year.

    The company reported earnings of 24 cents per diluted share.
       

  • Kohl's donates $25K for wildfire relief

    MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. — Kohl’s Department Stores has donated $25,000 cash in response to the recent wildfire which caused widespread damage and evacuations in the state of Colorado. Kohl’s is making this donation to the American Red Cross which will deliver much-needed emergency assistance throughout the affected communities including those near Colorado Springs.
