  • J.C. Penney to kick off holiday shopping season on Thanksgiving

    J.C. Penney has joined the list of retail chains that plan to open their stores on Thanksgiving night to kick off the holiday shopping season. 

    Penney will open most of its 1,100 stores at 8 p.m., the same as Macy's. Last year, Penney opened its stores at 6 a.m. on Black Friday, while rivals Macy’s and Kohl’s opened their doors at midnight.

  • JLL: Metro Seattle job market drives mixed-use sale

    Seattle — Jones Lang LaSalle’s Capital Markets group has announced the sale of Slater 116, a mixed-use property in Kirkland, a Seattle suburb. The property features 108 apartments and more than 10,000 sq. ft. of ground floor retail space. Essex Property Trust bought the recently completed property from Mainstreet Property Group for $29.6 million.

  • Under Armour brand launches first retail theater specialty store in Shanghai

    Under Armour has opened its first retail theater specialty store at the Jing An Kerry Centre in Shanghai, China. The store features a multi-dimensional short film that depicts athletes who use the brand.

    Founder and CEO Kevin Plank and Under Armour athlete Michael Phelps were on hand to host the grand opening event.

  • Sawgrass Mills signs 30 new retailers this year

    Sunrise, Fla. — So far this year, 30 new retailers have signed into Sawgrass Mills in Sunrise, Fla.

    The Colonnade Outlets at Sawgrass Mills, the open-air promenade part of the property recently added a number of new-to-South Florida retailers, including Diane von Furstenberg, Gucci, Versace, Robert Graham, Ippolita, Wolford, Jimmy Choo, Frette, Roberto Cavalli and others.

  • Pier 1 announces $200 million share repurchase program

    Fort Worth, Texas -- Pier 1 Imports announced that its board of directors has authorized a new $200 million share repurchase program.

    The new share repurchase program is effective immediately and authorizes the repurchase of up to $200 million of the company’s common stock in open market or private transactions. As of October 17, 2013, Pier I had approximately 103.8 million shares of common stock outstanding.

  • RadioShack brings concept store to Boston

    Fort Worth, Texas – RadioShack has opened its first new concept store in the Boston area. The store is located in the Porter Square neighborhood of Cambridge, Mass.
