  • Easton Town Center to add eight tenants

    Columbus, Ohio -- Easton Town Center co-developers have announced that they will add eight new tenants to the development by August. The new tenants include:

  • Sherwin-Williams Mexico acquisition rejected

    Cleveland – The Federal Competition Commission of Mexico has voted not to authorize Sherwin Williams’ November 2012 acquisition of Mexico City-based home improvement retailer and paint producer Consorcio Comex, S.A. de C.V. Sherwin-Williams is reviewing the rationale for the commission's decision and says it expects to respond to the Commission's concerns in the near future.

  • Rue21 and Sony Pictures Entertainment team for movie promotion

    Warrendale, Pa. -- Rue21 is partnering with Sony Pictures Entertainment to promote the release of "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.” The promotion awards a winner with two tickets to the Hollywood movie premiere; three additional winners receive movie prize packs.

    In addition, Rue21 is hosting two legs of Sony Pictures' 10-market mall tour where fans can see the stars of the film, Lily Collins and Jamie Campbell Bower. Rue21 is hosting the events at the Chicago Ridge Mall (Chicago) and Franklin Mills Mall (Philadelphia).

  • Safeway Q2 net income and sales decline

    Pleasanton, Calif. – Safeway reported a substantial decline in net income for the second quarter of fiscal 2013 as well as a drop in sales. Adjusted net income for the quarter was $8.4 million, compared to $122.7 million in the same quarter a year earlier. However, after adjusting for various legal expenses and loss from discontinued operations, net income for the quarter would have been $125.1 million.

  • Books-A-Million to install Espresso Book Machines in-store

    Birmingham, Ala. -- Books-A-Million has teamed with On Demand Books to put Espresso Book Machines in BAM’s Portland, Maine, store; a second store is slated for installation at a later date.

  • First Field & Stream specialty store to open Aug. 16

    Cranberry Township, Pa. -- The Dick’s Sporting Goods new Field & Stream specialty concept will make its debut next month at 1000 Cranberry Square Drive in Cranberry Township, Pa., near Dick’s headquarters in Pittsburgh.

  • Study: Millennials opt for Walmart over Amazon

    Kansas City -- A new study of the millennial generation shows that many 25- to 34-year-old shoppers change their purchasing habits and behaviors after they start their families.

  • NRF to Congress: Delay Affordable Care Act employer mandate

    Washington, D.C. -- The National Retail Federation penned a letter to Speaker of the House John Boehner and Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, asking Congress to pass a one-year delay of the Affordable Care Act’s employer mandate.  

    The impending House vote follows the Administration’s announcement earlier this month of a one-year delay of the employer mandate provisions.
