  • Lucescu Realty sells Ventura Village Shopping Center in Ventura, California

    Newport Beach, Calif. -- Mark Lucescu, president of Lucescu Realty, announced the sale of Ventura Village Shopping Center in Ventura, California, for $23.25 million. 

    Lucescu exclusively represented the interests of the seller, Regency Centers, a publicly traded real estate investment trust, headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida. In addition to representing Regency Centers in the sale, Lucescu also procured the buyer, a private company.
     

  • Brixmor names JLL Retail exec as VP of leasing

    New York - Brixmor Property Group, owner and operator of the largest wholly-owned portfolio of grocery-anchored shopping centers in the U.S., has named Christopher Ralph as VP leasing and will be based in Orlando, Florida. In this role, Ralph will oversee the leasing at Brixmor’s 58 community and neighborhood centers in Florida, which collectively total nine million-sq.-ft..

  • Walmart cuts health benefits for part-time associates; increases premium costs

    New York -- Wal-Mart Stores Inc. on Tuesday said it will no longer provide health benefits to part-time associates who work less than 30 hours a week in a move to control its rising healthcare costs. The chain, the nation’s largest private employer, said the decision will impact about 2% of its total U.S. work force.

    The announcement follows similar decisions by Target, Home Depot, Walgreens and Trader Joe’s to cut health insurance benefits for part-time associates.  

  • Norman’s Hallmark inks lease at Aldrich Plaza in Howell, N.J.

    Howell, N.J. -- Norman’s Hallmark, a family-owned and operated card and specialty gift retailer, has signed a lease to occupy 5,200 sq. ft. at Aldrich Plaza, Howell, New Jersey, announced Levin Management, exclusive leasing and managing agent for the 150,000-square-foot shopping center.
     
    Gloria Mercado, Levin’s leasing representative, negotiated the long-term lease.
     

  • Store costs, taxes hit Village Super Market Q4 net income

    Springfield, N.J. – Store closing and pre-opening costs, as well as an unfavorable state tax ruling, reduced net income at Village Super Market Inc. 5% to $5.87 million in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2014, from $6.2 million in the same quarter the prior year. Two new store openings helped boost net sales 5.5% to $383.8 million, from $376.3 million.

    Same-store sales rose 9%. For fiscal 2015, Village Super Market expects same-store sales to range from flat to slightly positive.

  • Square and Epicor lead mobile POS software rankings, according to IHL Group

    Franklin, Tenn. -- Software companies Square and Epicor lead the fast growing Mobile POS software market in North America according to new research from IHL Group, a global retail research and advisory firm.  

    Mobile POS installs are expected to grow by 110% this year as more retailers replace electronic cash registers and POS terminals with mobile devices.

  • NRF says holiday sales to grow 4.1%

    Holiday sales are projected to grow at their fastest level in years, rising 4.1% to nearly $617 billion after a 3.1% increase last year, according to an annual forecast released by the National Retail Federation.
