    Time and again in 2014 the vulnerability of retailers’ information systems became apparent with Staples the latest major chain forced to admit an inability to protect customers’ personal information.

    Now Staples has released more information about its data breach in September.

  • Ex-RadioShack CMO finds a new home

    RadioShack’s former marketing chief is joining At Home, the Texas-based home decor chain.

    "Jennifer's retail experience coupled with her strong agency background will serve her well in her new role," said Lee Bird, CEO of At Home. "We're thrilled to have added an executive with her prowess to our growing team."

    Warren most recently held the position of CMO for RadioShack, where she was responsible for leading the marketing, consumer insights, private brand strategy, public relations and omnichannel teams.

  • Amazon makes customers an offer they can refuse

    Amazon.com is rolling out a new haggling feature on its website as the company looks to further cement its low-price reputation among consumers.

    The new “Make an Offer” feature allows sellers to accept or reject bids on more than 150,000 items across the categories of Sports and Entertainment Collectibles, Collectible Coins and Fine Art.

  • Marketing exec at RadioShack is out

    The person behind the retro marketing campaign at RadioShack is out.

    Jennifer Warren, chief marketing officer at RadioShack, is the latest top executive to leave the troubled electronics retailer as it tries to stave off bankruptcy. The company recently replaced its CFO for the third time this year as it reshuffled restructuring advisers.

    Warren joined RadioShack in April 2013 and was one of CEO Joe Magnacca’s first hires when he was putting together his turnaround team.

  • Walmex bank division sells for $247 million

    Mexico City, Mexico - Grupo Financiero Inbursa, a banking firm owned by Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim, has reportedly bought the bank division of Wal-Mart de Mexico (Walmex) for $246.94 million, or 1.7 times Walmex’s bank capital.

     

    According to Reuters, Walmex has been focusing on selling its non-core assets, such as its restaurant division, in the past year.

  • Celebration Pointe secures $46 million in financing for bridge construction and public infrastructure improvements

    Gainesville, Florida - Celebration Pointe, a 125-acre mixed-used development in the heart of Gainesville, has secured a $12 million State Infrastructure Bank (SIB) loan and $34 million in Community Development District (CDD) bonds. Celebration Pointe partner Ralph Conti made the announcement.  
  • RadioShack marketing head leaves company

    Fort Worth, Texas – The management shakeup continues at RadioShack Corp. Jennifer Warren, chief marketing officer of the troubled consumer electronics chain, has reportedly left the company.   According to the Wall Street Journal, Warren, who had served as chief marketing officer since early 2013 and was responsible for a highly publicized Super Bowl ad featuring 1980s celebrities, no longer works for RadioShack. There are no other details on her departure and Warren and RadioShack declined further comment.
