  • Barnett Capital sells The Shoppes at Prime Village

    Chicago — Barnett Capital has sold The Shoppes at Prime Village in Schaumburg, Ill., to Integris Ventures for approximately $7.25 million, according to CBRE, which represented Barnett in the transaction.

    The acquisition is the first for Integris Ventures in the Chicago area.

    Built in 2008, the 38,313-sq.-ft. center is anchored by Aldi. Other tenants include Chicago Prime Steakhouse and Culvers.

  • Target expands Beauty Concierge program

    Minneapolis -- Target has expanded its Beauty Concierge program to 95 stores in New York and New Jersey, the San Francisco Bay Area and Dallas-Fort Worth. Under the program, stores are staffed with a beauty concierge, a specially trained, brand-agnostic assistant who answers customers' questions in the store and provides personalized, detailed and unbiased information about beauty and personal care products.

  • Turnaround expert Roland Smith named CEO of Office Depot

    New York -- Office Depot Inc. — the new entity created by the merger of Office Depot and OfficeMax — named Roland Smith as CEO, effective immediately. Smith, 59, most recently served as CEO of Delhaize American, a division of Belgian grocery giant Delhaize Group. Prior to that, he was president and CEO of The Wendy's Co., holding company for the Wendy's chain.

  • NRF: More shoppers turning to holiday gift cards

    Eight-in-10 (80.6%) shoppers will purchase gift cards this holiday season, according to the National Retail Federation’s Gift Card Spending Survey conducted by Prosper Insights & Analytics.

    Holiday shoppers will spend an average of $163.16 on gift cards, up 4.0% over the $156.86 they spent last year and the highest amount in the survey’s 11-year history. Total spending on gift cards will reach $29.8 billion.

  • Dollar General announces changes to board

    Goodlettsville, Tenn. -- Dollar General Corporation announced the resignations of Raj Agrawal and Adrian Jones as members of its board of directors effective Dec. 5. Agrawal, a member of KKR & Co. (LP), and Jones, a managing director at Goldman, Sachs & Co., have served as directors of Dollar General since 2007.

  • Sam’s Club joins Stirling Bossier Shopping Center

    Covington, La. — Sam’s Club will join the tenant lineup at Stirling Bossier Shopping Center in Bossier City, La., according to an announcement by Stirling Properties. Construction of the new club store is underway. It is scheduled to open in the summer of 2014.
