  • Gracious Home acquired by Americas Retail Flagship Fund

    NEW YORK - Gracious Home, a home goods retailer with stores in New York City's Upper West and Upper East side neighborhoods, as well as online at gracioushome.com, was acquired by Americas Retail Flagship Fund LLC. The company under its prior ownership had filed for bankruptcy protection in August.

  • Industry challenges take toll on Borders' Q3

    ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Borders Group reported that sales for the third quarter were $470.9 million, which is a decrease of 17.6% from the same period a year ago. On a comparable-store sales basis, sales declined 12.6%, driven primarily by the adult trade category, according to the company. Sales were also negatively impacted by Borders.com, which saw a third quarter decrease of 8.6% over the prior year to $12.5 million.

  • Hodgdon-Miank completes Phase I renovation of Pierside Pavilion

    Huntington Beach, Calif. -- Colton, Calif.-based Hodgdon-Miank Construction announced that it has completed the first phase of a major renovation of the Pierside Pavilion, a four-level mixed-use complex located in downtown Huntington Beach, Calif.

    The $2 million renovation converted a former Mann 6 Theatre into 33,049 sq. ft. of multi-use Class A office and restaurant space. Phase II will include an office upgrade and the addition of a live entertainment venue.

  • Charter Realty named retail leasing broker for Storrs Center

    Mansfield, Conn. -- LeylandAlliance, master developer for Storrs Center, announced that Charter Realty & Development Corp. has been named the exclusive retail leasing broker for Storrs Center.

    Storrs Center is a $220 million, mixed-use town center and Main Street project located in Storrs, Conn. The public-private partnership is being developed in cooperation with LeylandAlliance, the Mansfield Downtown Partnership, and Education Realty Trust.

  • Genesco reports payment card criminal intrusion

    Nashville, Tenn. -- Genesco reported on Friday a criminal intrusion into the portion of its computer network that processes payment card transactions for its U.S. Journeys stores, Journeys Kidz, Shi by Journeys and Johnston & Murphy stores, and for some of its Underground Station stores.

    The retailer announced that it took immediate steps to secure the affected part of its network and said it believes the intrusion has been contained.

  • Marshalls opens at Springdale Mall

    Mobile, Ala. -- Centro Properties Group announced that Marshalls has opened a 26,000-sq.-ft. store at Springdale Mall, located in Mobile, Ala.

    New York City-based Centro Properties Group is the owner of Springdale Mall.

  • Neiman Marcus Q1 profit triples

    Dallas -- Neiman Marcus Group reported Thursday that profit for the quarter ended Oct. 30 tripled to $25.7 million, compared with $8.5 million in the year-ago period. The retailer cited more full-price selling, higher customer traffic and lower costs for the strong performance.

    The operator of its namesake and Bergdorf Goodman stores saw sales rise 6.7% to $927 million. Same-store sales increased 6.4% following a 14% plunge a year ago.
