  • InvenTrust announces senior management appointments

    Oakbrook, Ill. -- InvenTrust Properties Corp. announced a series of appointments to its senior management team. The new appointments, effective immediately, are as follows:

    · James Christensen has been named senior VP of asset management.
     
    · Chris Dykstra has been named senior VP of property management.
     
    · Nicole Horne has been named VP of transactions.
     

  • Watch out Amazon…Home Depot narrowing price gap

    Ottawa, Canada – Home Depot is narrowing its price gap with Amazon.com, which typically offers the lowest overall prices on home improvement goods.

     According to a recent study from pricing analytics provider 360pi, “Building Up to Home Improvement Season,” Home Depot was the most aggressively priced home improvement “category killer,” with an average price of just more than 5% above Amazon, narrowing down to around 3% above Amazon by the end of the sampled period (May 1 – June 16, 2015).

  • Phillips Edison Grocery Centers nabs three centers

    Cincinnati -- Phillips Edison Grocery Center announced it has acquired three grocery-anchored shopping centers in Michigan, California, and Massachusetts.

    Crossroads Towne Center is a 102,275-sq.-ft. grocery store-anchored shopping center in Howell, Michigan, a suburb of Ann Arbor, Michigan. The center is anchored by Kroger, and also features national tenants Great Clips, Jets Pizza, Subway, H&R Block, and Little Caesars.  

  • Dollar Tree just created the nation's biggest dollar store chain

    Dollar Tree's yearlong takeover saga, in which the retailer's offer to buy Family Dollar prompted a separate buyout attempt from Dollar General, is finally over.

    Dollar Tree Inc. announced that it has completed its $8.5 billion acquisition of Family Dollar Stores Inc. Dollar Tree also named a new president and COO of Family Dollar. The combined company will operate about 13,000 stores, making it the largest dollar store chain in the U.S. by store count. 

  • Acquisition creates discount giant

    Chesapeake, Va. -- It’s a done deal.

    Dollar Tree announced Monday that it has completed its $8.5 billion acquisition of Family Dollar Stores.

    Gary Philbin, 58, formerly president and COO of Dollar Tree, has been named to the same position at Family Dollar, effective immediately. In his new role, Philbin will continue to report to Bob Sasser, CEO of Dollar Tree.

  • Ross Dress for Less expands western U.S. store counts

    Dublin, Calif. -- Ross Dress for Less will open a new store in Montrose, Colorado, on July 18, as well as a new store in Phoenix on the same day, adding to its western U.S. store counts.

    The 27,000-sq.-ft. Montrose, Colorado, store is located in the River Landing shopping center at US Highway 550 and Rio Grande Avenue, 60 miles southeast of Grand Junction.  

  • Ross keeps growing

    Dublin, Calif. -- Ross Dress for Less (“Ross”) isn’t slowing down its brick-and-mortar expansion.

    The chain will open a new location in Salina, Kansas, on July 18. The 25,000-sq.-ft. store is located in the Central Mall, 80 miles north of Wichita. The opening is part of the retailer’s 2015 expansion program, totaling approximately 70 new locations during the year.  

  • dd's Discounts opens fourth Tucson-area store

    Dublin, Calif. -- dd’s Discounts, a division of Ross Stores, Inc., opened its newest Arizona store on June 27 – a 22,000-sq.-ft. unit in North Tucson.

    The newest store is located in the Oracle Gateway off of North Oracle Road and Pastime Road, 3.7 miles north of downtown Tucson, and it brings the total number of stores in the Tucson area to four.
