  • Starbucks acquires full ownership of select stores in China

    Seattle -- Starbucks Corp. announced it has acquired full ownership of Starbucks stores in the China provinces of Guangdong, Hainan, Sichuan, Shaanxi and Hubei in an agreement with Maxim’s Caterers Ltd., the coffee company’s joint-venture partner. As a result, Starbucks said now has full control of more than half of the Starbucks retail stores in Mainland China as it looks to accelerate growth in the future.

  • Tuesday Morning opens five Chicago-area stores

    Chicago -- Transwestern’s Chicago Retail Advisory Services team said Wednesday it represented Tuesday Morning in five transactions across the Chicagoland area totaling 95,416 sq. ft.

  • Chobani to open first yogurt shop in Manhattan

    New York City -- Robert K. Futterman & Associates said it recently secured the first Manhattan Chobani location at 150 Prince St. in SoHo, located on the southwest corner of West Broadway.

    The 550-sq.-ft. space, formerly occupied by Swatch, is set to open this summer.

    The SoHo location will introduce the Greek yogurt brand to a thriving retail corridor of Manhattan surrounded by co-tenants that include Lucky Brand, Cole Haan, Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren, among others.
     

  • Disney Baby introduces infant bodysuit

    GLENDALE, Calif. — Disney Consumer Products has created a new line of branded baby products, the first of which is an infant bodysuit made of 100% cotton. The Disney "Cuddly Bodysuit" comes with a second row of snaps that allow the bodysuit to “grow” with baby, available on Amazon.com/DisneyBaby this month and at select retailers this fall, the company reported.

  • Macy's May sales rise 7.4%

    Cincinnati -- The day before most retailers report monthly results, Macy’s said Wednesday that same-store sales climbed 7.4% in May and total revenue rose 8.5% to $1.94 billion.

    The department store operator also raised its expectations for the second quarter, saying it now expects second quarter same-store revenue to climb about 5%. Its prior forecast called for an approximately 4% increase.

  • Barneys.com introduces international shipping

    NEW YORK — Barneys New York has announced that its e-commerce website, Barneys.com (www.Barneys.com), has introduced international shipping to 90 countries including Canada, South Korea, the United Kingdom, Australia, and China.

    According to Barneys, international customers will be able to make payments on Barneys.com in their preferred currency with cost-effective international shipping and handling services.  

  • Foot Locker makes senior management changes

    New York City -- Foot Locker announced a series of organizational changes designed to enhance its focus on its two key business units -- retail stores and direct-to-customer, and to strengthen the operations supporting each unit. The changes will take effect as of July 1.

    The company will consolidate the reporting of all its retail store businesses under Richard A. Johnson, who will be promoted to executive VP and group president – retail stores. He will be responsible for all of Foot Locker’s domestic and international store banners.

  • Footlocker makes mid-year executive moves

    Richard Johnson and Robert McHugh have seen their responsibilities expanded at Foot Locker, as the footwear retailer looks to enhance its focus on its retail and direct-to-customer business segments.
