  • Cypress Equities welcomes new director

    Dallas -- Cypress Equities Cos. announced that it has hired Lance Taylor, director of asset management.

    Taylor brings 25 years of experience in commercial real estate with varied responsibilities that include underwriting, acquisition, asset management, leasing, land development, receivership and dispositions. Lance’s background includes Archon Group, Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management, Jones Lang LaSalle America’s, Inc. and Stream Realty Partners, L.P.

  • Macy’s growing its outlet format

    Macy’s Inc. relatively new to the outlet sector but it’s making up for lost time.

    On the heels of the debut of its Macy’s Backstage off-price format and the news that it would close up to 40 underperforming namesake stores, the retailer announced it will open two Bloomingdale’s Outlet stores in November, at The Shops at Liberty Place in Philadelphia, and at Westfield Mission Valley in San Diego.

  • Google unveils new mobile payment service, Android Pay

    New York -- Apple Pay will soon have a rival. Google Inc. is launching a successor to Google Wallet called Android Pay, for Android phones running KitKat and above, PC World reported. It will be available in over 700,000 stores, including Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s, and McDonald’s locations.

  • Ross Dress for Less expands in Idaho, California

    Ross Dress for Less is opening new stores under both its namesake and dd’s Discounts banners. The specialty apparel retailer will open a 25,000-sq.-ft. Ross Dress for Less store in Twin Falls, Idaho, on Oct. 10.

    This store is the 11th new Ross Dress for Less location in Idaho. The opening is part of the retailer’s 2015 expansion program, totaling approximately 70 new locations during the year.

    According to the new J.D. Power 2015 Appliance Shopper Website Evaluation Study, Lowe's ranks highest among appliance retailer websites, with a score of 848 out of 1,000, up by nine points from 2014.

  • Simon says go online

    Global retail estate company Simon is looking to the Internet for its latest development. Simon is launching Simon SAID, a lifestyle-focused digital platform.

    Simon SAID delivers editorial content on fashion, beauty, design, culture and food that links back to offerings available at Simon centers nationwide. The platform will utilize influencers, bloggers and retail partners to create original content featuring products sold at Simon retailers, from clothing and accessories to home decor and food.

  • GBT Realty closes on $5 million center

    Fayetteville, N.C. -- GBT Realty Corporation announced that it has closed on The Shoppes of Fayetteville, a 15-acre site, located in Fayetteville, North Carolina, for $5 million. The 126,500-sq.-ft. center is in the midst of a $25 million redevelopment scheduled to be completed in summer 2016.
