  • Dunkin’ Donuts checks into two Great Wolf Lodges

    Canton, Mass. — Dunkin’ Donuts has opened two new locations at Great Wolf Lodge Resorts in Michigan and Virginia. These are the second and third restaurants to open under a franchising agreement between the donut chain and Great Wolf Resort.

    “Our partnerships with Great Wolf Lodge and other lodging properties are a continued focus for our growth in alternative points of distribution,” said Grant Benson, CFE, VP franchising and business development with Dunkin’ Brands.

  • NRF weighs in on court's swipe fees decision

    WASHINGTON — The National Retail Federation has issued a statement from SVP and general counsel Mallory Duncan on U.S. District Judge Richard Leon’s decision regarding swipe fee reforms. The judge found that the Federal Reserve misapplied Congress’ intent when it implemented the required reforms.

  • NRF, FMI and RILA applaud decision on swipe fees

    Washington, D.C. -- The National Retail Federation, Food Marketing Institute and Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA) both issued statements applauding the ruling on the Federal Reserve Swipe Fee Regulation. The groups were responding to a U.S. District Court ruling on Wednesday that the implementation rules for debit swipe fee reform established by the Federal Reserve were inconsistent with the intent of the law.

  • Kmart offers gas rewards program to Shop Your Way members

    HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. — Kmart is offering Shop Your Way members a chance to save at the pump while checking off their school supply and grocery shopping lists at select stores. 

    The retailer cited the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report, which states that the average national price of a regular gallon of gas is $3.62, compared to the national average of $3.48 a year ago. And Kmart wants to make sure the recent spike in gas prices which has coincided with the back-to-school shopping season doesn’t negatively impact foot traffic to stores. 

  • GNC to tackle new market opportunities

    PITTSBURGH — GNC Holdings has named Carmine Fortino as EVP, business development. Fortino has extensive experience in the natural products industry and was also a former director of General Nutrition Centers, Inc. from 2007-2011.

    "Carmine is a great addition to the GNC senior management team. His background in multichannel development across the health and wellness segment will enhance our approach to new market opportunities as we continue to implement GNC's proven growth strategy," said Joseph Fortunato, GNC's chairman, president and CEO.

  • Regency buys class-A center in D.C. metro area

    SILVER SPRING, Md. — Regency Centers Corp. and a co-investment partner have acquired the 31,316-sq.-ft. Shoppes of Burnt Mills in Silver Spring, Md., just north of Washington, D.C., for $13.6 million. Regency’s share of the off-market acquisition was $1.7 million.
