  • CVS Caremark to acquire Navarro Discount Pharmacy

    Woonsocket, R.I. — CVS Caremark said Monday that it has agreed to buy the assets of Miami-based Navarro Discount Pharmacy, the largest Hispanic-owned drug store chain in the U.S. The transaction includes Navarro's 33 retail drugstore locations and Navarro Health Services, a specialty pharmacy serving patients with complex or chronic diseases.

  • Spending growth solid in June

    First Data Corporation reported solid June spending growth in a number of sectors in its First Data SpendTrend analysis for May 31, 2014 through June 30, 2014, compared to June 1, 2013 through July 1, 2013.

    SpendTrend tracks same-store point-of-sale data by credit, signature debit, PIN debit, EBT, closed-loop prepaid cards and checks from nearly 4 million merchant locations serviced by First Data.

  • Mid-America Real Estate arranges sale of Gateway Square

    Chicago -- Mid-America Real Estate Corporation’s Investment Sales team recently brokered the sale of Gateway Square in Hinsdale (Chicago MSA), Illinois. The 39,710-sq.-ft. center was purchased for $10 million, excluding closing costs and adjustments, by Buffalo Grove, Illinois-based C P Management, LLC.

    When Regency Centers signed Whole Foods Market to anchor its new retail development — Belmont Chase — in Ashburn, Virginia, the developer further elevated an already exciting project.

    With a projected summer 2015 opening, the 80,000-sq.-ft. center will include metro-D.C.’s first Cooper’s Hawk Winery and Restaurant, Cava Mezze Grill, Peet’s Coffee and Tea, and PR Fresh Look Salon, among other soon-to-be-announced restaurants and retailers.

  • Einstein Bagels inks new lease at Kendallgate

    Kendall, Fla. -- Berkowitz Development Group announced the signing of a new long-term lease with Einstein Bagels for 2,466 sq. ft. at Kendallgate Shopping Center. The chain will take space within a freestanding retail building alongside AT&T in the Center’s plaza located at 12190 SW 88th Street in Miami.

    Einstein Bagels has already begun construction at its new location and expects to open in late August.

  • Coupon activity increased 3.4% during the first six months of 2014

    Minneapolis -- Free standing Insert (FSI) coupon activity increased 3.4% t based on coupons dropped during the first six months of 2014 versus the year ago period, according to Marx, a Kantar Media solution. Coupons dropped within non-food categories increased 8.2% to represent 65% of the 158 billion FSI coupons distributed during this period.
