  • GameStop advances digital strategy with two acquisitions

    Grapevine, Texas -- GameStop Corp. announced the acquisition of Spawn Labs, a streaming technology company.

    In addition, GameStop announced it has entered into an agreement to purchase Impulse, a subsidiary of Stardock Systems, and a leader in digital distribution. The Impulse acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to close in May.

    New York City -- Walmart, Target, The Home Depot, Best Buy and CVS took top honors in Interbrand’s annual ranking of the 50 most valuable U.S. retail brands. The U.S. brands are valued in collaboration with Interbrand Design Forum, the retail experience group within Interbrand.

    Foxborough, Mass. -- Patriot Place shopping center, located in Foxborough, Mass., announced that Charming Charlie boutique opened today, its first location in Massachusetts.

  • Sony brings a new experience to L.A.

    LOS ANGELES -- Sony Electronics announced that on April 1 it will open its first newly branded Sony store in the United States at the Westfield Century City Shopping mall in Los Angeles.

  • Cinemark to open new 14-screen theater at Presidio Junction

    Fort Worth, Texas -- The Weitzman Group/Cencor Realty Services announced that Cinemark Holdings will construct a 14-screen, all-digital movie theater that will feature the company's new Cinemark NextGen design concept.   

    Cinemark has entered into an agreement to purchase 10 acres in Presidio Junction, a 300-acre master-planned mixed-use development of LNR Property LLC, located eight miles north of downtown Fort Worth, Texas.

  • Conn’s loses $3.4 million in Q4, partly due to store closings

    Beaumont, Texas -- Conn's said Thursday that it lost $3.4 million in its fiscal fourth quarter, reflecting charges tied to planned store closings and other items.

    Conn's, which sells consumer electronics, home appliances, furniture, mattresses and lawn and garden products, operates 76 stores in Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma. It plans to close five underperforming stores and let the leases expire for two additional locations.

  • Sony Electronics set to unveil new store concept

    Los Angeles -- Sony Electronics will unveil its newly branded Sony store on Friday, in Westfield Century City, Los Angeles. The 4,200-sq.-ft. store is designed to allow consumers to explore the complete Sony experience, including electronics, games, movies, music, network services and future technologies.
