  • Dick’s Sporting Goods holds grand opening at Alliance Town Center

    Fort Worth, Texas -- Dick’s Sporting Goods is now open at Alliance Town Center in North Fort Worth, Texas. During the May 31 through June 2 grand opening ceremonies for the 50,000-sq.-ft. Phase II anchor, co-developer Trademark Property Co., announced plans to add 237,000-sq.-ft. of retail and restaurant space to the center.

    “With Dick’s opening, we are well positioned to complete the current phase and proceed with our main-street lifestyle expansion,” said Trademark CEO Terry Montesi.

  • RadioShack’s Amschler promoted to SVP, franchise

    FORT WORTH, Texas — RadioShack has promoted Marty Amschler to SVP of franchise. In his expanded role, Amschler will continue to lead RadioShack's dealer franchise operations while also now providing senior leadership to the company's commercial sales division and B2B sales team.

  • SoHo mixed-use building sold for $48.5 million

    New York -- RKF said it has arranged the sale of an 18,850-sq.-ft. mixed-use building located at 138 Spring St. in Manhattan's SoHo district.

    The building encompasses 2,000 sq. ft. on the ground floor and 2,600 sq. ft. on the lower level, all occupied by high-end eyewear retailer ILORI. The balance consists of 14,250 sq. ft. of full-floor commercial loft space.

  • RadioShack promotes Amschler to senior VP of franchise

    Fort Worth, Texas – RadioShack Corp. has promoted Marty Amschler to senior VP of franchise.

    Amschler, who has been with RadioShack since 2009, will continue overseeing dealer franchise operations and also provide senior leadership to the company's commercial sales division and B2B sales team. He has close to 40 years of retail executive experience and previously held sales and franchise positions at companies including Kinney Shoe Corporation, The Athlete's Foot and NexCen Brands.

  • Private investment firm acquires Retail Solutions Group

    Santa Monica, Calif. — Private investment firm Clearlake Capital Group has begun the process of acquiring the Retail Solutions Group of Agilysys through a newly formed affiliate, Kyrus Solutions. The transaction is expected to close in the early summer. 

  • Survey: Father’s Day 2013 sales to reach $13 billion

    New York -- Research released by IBISWorld showed that Father’s Day sales are forecast to total $13 billion in 2013, a 2% year-over-year increase. Results are expected to get a boost from the overall rise in consumer spending.

    Special outings, such as dining out and watching sporting events, are expected to account for the largest share of Father’s Day spending this year, contributing 18.8% of total holiday sales, up 3.5% from 2012.

  • Study: Father’s Day sales up 2% in 2013

    Thanks to a rebounding economy, dads this year stand to get more than just a boring tie, a pair of socks or a pat on the back for Father's Day.

    According to industry research firm IBISWorld, Father's Day sales are expected to total $13 billion this year, a 2% increase from 2012. Traditional Father’s Day gifts, such as automotive accessories and clothing, will take a backseat to gift choices reflecting economic recovery, like home-improvement tools. This increase is mainly due to the overall rise in consumer spending during the past year.

  • Online consumers spending more on floor care

    Floor care, water filtration devices and air purifiers generate higher average prices online than in brick-and-mortar stores, according to research from NPD Group.

    The research company’s Consumer Tracking Service, looking back at the 12 months ended March 2013, found that consumers are spending significantly more for these home environment cleaning appliances purchased online.
