  • It’s time to get personal

That means new merchandising tactics are being embraced by industry leaders who are turning to digital signage to enhance the shopper experience and achieve competitive differentiation.

  • Barnes & Noble releases Nook GlowLight in U.K.

    London - Nook Media LLC, a subsidiary of Barnes & Noble Inc., has launched its new Nook GlowLight e-reader in the U.K. The new Nook GlowLight features perfectly-lit pages, sharper text and advanced display technology, and can hold up to 2,000 books.

    The Nook GlowLight will be available starting Aug. 6 at Argos, Asda, Blackwells, Foyles, John Lewis, Sainsburys and Very.

     

  • The Fresh Market to open this fall at The Village at Livingston

    Livingston, New Jersey — The Fresh Market will open a 23,000-sq.-ft. store at The Village at Livingston (New Jersey), occupying a portion of the center’s former Pathmark store. The store is slated to open fall 2014.

    The 93,000-sq.-ft. shopping center, which is managed and developed by Eastman Companies of Livingston, features tenants Olive Garden, GameStop, Wine Legend, Karate USA, Hudson City Savings and Zen Japanese Cuisine.

  • Home South to open store in Rock Hill Galleria center

    Smithfield, N.C. – Home South, a specialty home furnishings chain operated by Carolina Pottery, is opening a 30,000-sq.-ft. store in the Rock Hill Galleria shopping center in Rock Hill, South Carolina, in the fall. Rock Hill Galleria is anchored by Belk, Sears and J.C. Penney, plus offers a variety of specialty stores including Victoria’s Secret, Aeropostale, Hot Topic, Yankee Candle, rue21, Kay Jewelers and Bath & Body Works.

  • Timex brand enters wearable tech space with smartwatch

    The Timex brand is synonymous with watches so it’s no surprise that the company has entered the wearable teachnology space with a new smartwatch, called the Timex Ironman One GPS+, which offers consumers stand-alone wireless connectivity without a phone.

    The brand is marketing the smartwatch as the ideal device to use in those instances when carrying a phone is not ideal. Some of the Timex Ironman One GPS+ smartwatch’s features include the following:

  • Home South to open at Rock Hill Galleria

    Rock Hill, South Carolina — Southern home furnishings retailer Home South will open a 30,000-sq.-ft. store at Rock Hill Galleria, located in Rock Hill, South Carolina. The new store is slated to open this fall.

    The Rock Hill Galleria location marks the company’s second store. Its original store is situated in Charlotte, North Carolina. The company was founded in 2013 by the operators of Carolina Pottery.

  • Newegg streamlines shopping experience with Visa Checkout

    Newegg has turned to Visa to streamline the checkout process for its customers. The leading electronics-focused e-retailer will leverage the Visa Checkout payment service to simplify the process of buying online.

    Visa Checkout can be used when shopping Newegg from a desktop computer and mobile devices. To mark the addition of the new service, Newegg is running a promotion until August 25 giving customers 10% (up to $20) off purchases made using Visa Checkout.

    Los Angeles -- Newegg announced the addition of Visa Checkout, a new payment service that simplifies the process of buying online. Visa Checkout can be used when shopping Newegg from a desktop computer and mobile devices.
