    A new technology platform has been launched with a very specific goal: to help retailers convert their online browsers into shoppers at their brick-and-mortar stores.


    The solution, a scalable SaaS platform from Brickwork, is designed to elevate the customer experience from site to store. It seeks to revolutionize the online “store locator” function by enriching the data and content around physical locations for brands with hundreds, and even thousands, of locations.

  • This city is a retail melting pot

    When it comes to retail diversity, Manhattan is about as inclusive as it gets.

    A first-of-its-kind survey of 906 existing retailers in three of Manhattan’s leading shopping districts (SoHo, Fifth Avenue, and Madison Avenue) found a virtual “United Nations” of merchants originating from 26 countries. The Cushman & Wakefield study found that nearly four out of 10 retailers – 39% -- originate from outside the United States.

  • Watters Creek to welcome Kendra Scott, complete third phase of development in 2016

    Allen, Texas -- Trademark Property, announced that jewelry designer Kendra Scott will open at Watters Creek at Montgomery Farms, the 800,000-sq.-ft. mixed-use center in Allen, Texas. The 2,054 sq. ft. boutique, which will be located near White House | Black Market and Anthropologie, is slated to open in spring 2016.

  • Iconic Fifth Avenue women’s store to create greater sales space

    One of New York City’s most iconic luxury apparel stores is getting bigger.

    Bergdorf Goodman will relocate its executive offices and other non-sales related functions to 4 West 58th Street, adjacent to its iconic Fifth Avenue location. The move will create an additional 25,000 sq. ft. of retail space in the retailer’s flagship, including the entire 8th and 9th floors.

  • Dick's Sporting Goods to backfill former J.C. Penney space at Cumberland Mall

    Vineland, N.J. -- PREIT announced its plans to open a Dick's Sporting Goods at Cumberland Mall in Vineland, New Jersey. The sports and fitness retailer will occupy the former J.C. Penney Department Store space in a 50,000 sq. ft. location.

    “This transaction demonstrates PREIT's continued success in replacing anchors with in-demand retailers,” states Joseph F. Coradino, CEO for PREIT "The addition of Dick's Sporting Goods will improve the merchandise mix and solidify the tenant roster at Cumberland Mall.”

  • Specialty retailer expands its global footprint

    Charming Charlie opened its first location in the Philippines, at Bonifacio High Street Central Square.

    The location showcases the brand’s newest retail store concept, and features signature double doors in vibrant pink lacquer and a residential-style interior that mixes feminine, mid-century accents with luxe materials and whimsical details.

    In the Philippines, Charming Charlie is exclusively distributed by Stores Specialists, a member of SSI Group, Inc., which has further growth planned for the brand in Cebu and Manila next year.

  • Perfumania's Q3 doesn't smell so nice

    The value proposition of Perfumania stores is under scrutiny after the retailer reported dismal same store sale for the third quarter.

    For the 13-week period ended Oct. 31, net sales at Perfumania decreased 8% to $142 million, compared to $154.3 million in the prior year. Same-store sales decreased 22.1%. Net income was $3 million, or net income per diluted share of 20 cents, compared to a net income of $7.5 million, or a net income per diluted share of 48 cents during last year’s third quarter.
