  • Menswear retailer launches its first mobile app

    Destination XL Group has a new way to connect with its loyal shoppers.   The menswear retailer launched its first mobile app — a move that will help it engage shoppers whether they are on-the-go or in-store. Designed with mobile commerce provider PredictSpring, the app will help Destination XL create a more modern shopping experience.  
  • Inland notches another Texas center

    One of the most active acquirers in the retail real estate business has made its 292nd purchase in the great State of Texas.    Inland Real Estate Acquisitions announced the purchase of Denton Village in the town of the same name, situated 40 miles north of Dallas. The North Dallas region has been a hotbed of job growth, housing starts, and new retail development.  
  • Online apparel brand with big following to open flagship

    A clothing brand know for its "radical transparency" is putting down roots in its hometown.   Everlane will open its first permanent brick-and-mortar location, in San Francisco. The opening date hasn't been announced yet, but the company has posted a variety of available jobs, including "flagship store leader," on its website.  The storefront, on Valencia Street in the city's Mission District, is already identified with the brand's "100% Human"  tagline.

  • Women's fitness concept closing up shop

    Dick's Sporting Goods Inc. is shutting down its women's fashion/fitness store format.    Dick's is closing its two existing Chelsea Collective stores on August 6. Dick's launched the brand in 2015, but it never expanded it in any signficiant way.   
  • Target welcomes new class to accelerator program

    The newest batch of start-ups are making their way to Minneapolis for the second annual Target + Techstars retail accelerator program.   After receiving applications from more than 3,000 technology start-ups — 70% of which had a co-founder who is either female or comes from an ethnically diverse background — Target whittled the list down to 10 finalists for this year’s tech accelerator. Companies range from online advertising to rebates to clothing alterations, and hail from Minneapolis to as far as Belgium.
  • Phillips Edison acquires Ralph’s-anchored center

    Chain Store Age’s “Fastest-Growing Acquirer” for 2016 continues to be hard at it in 2017.   Phillips Edison has purchased Sierra Del Oro Towne Center in Corona, California, about midway between Los Angeles and Palm Springs, for $28.6 million, it was announced this week.
