  • Hollister to open summer beach house

    Hollister plans to open the Hollister House this summer from Memorial Day weekend through early August. The brand, rooted in Southern California, will feature new summer styles and host music performances at the beach house all summer long.

    The lineup of musical artists includes Ariana Grande, Chromeo (DJ set), Cody Simpson, Lucy Hale, MKTO, Timeflies and Zendaya.

  • Uniqlo to open stores in Boston, Philly markets

    New York - Uniqlo announced it will enter two new markets, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts, starting this spring. The Japanese apparel giant will open three stores in the Philadelphia market and six stores in the Boston metro area.  In addition, Uniqlo will open a pop-up shop at Faneuil Hall Marketplace, Boston, early this summer.

    Uniqlo will enter Pennsylvania with three stores in the greater Philadelphia area:

    • King of Prussia Mall, King of Prussia (May 16)
    • 1608 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia (Oct. 3)

  • Hudson’s Bay names CFO

    Toronto -- Hudson’s Bay Company named Paul V. Beesley as CFO, effective in June.

    Beesley is a senior executive with extensive experience in financial management and strategic development across a range of leading Canadian-based companies. From 2000 to 2014, he served in a number of executive roles with Empire Company Limited, a corporation with annual sales in excess of $19 billion and operations in retailing and related real estate, including chief corporate development officer of the Sobeys unit and executive VP and CFO of Empire.

  • Canadian fashion retailer Jacob to close all 92 stores

    Montreal -- After a failed attempt to restructure under bankruptcy protection, Canadian fashion retailer Boutique Jacob said it will liquidate its inventory and close all 92 stores.

    The Montreal-based chain, which operates the Jacob, Jacob Outlet and Jacob Liquidation banners, exited bankruptcy protection in 2011 and has been unable to return to profitability. According to a Reuters report, the company said it was hurt by a challenging economy as well as competition from international brands that have debuted in Canada in recent years.

  • Charming Charlie to South Shore in Alameda, California

    Alameda, Calif. — Charming Charlie has signed a 10-year lease for a new 5,570-sq.-ft. store at Alameda South Shore Center in Alameda, California. Cornish & Carey Commercial Newmark Knight Frank represented the landlord, Jamestown, the real estate investment and management firm, in the transaction.

    Slated to open in September, the new Charming Charlie will join Carter’s and Crazy 8, two more recently signed tenants, in the 594,000-sq.-ft. open-air shopping center.

  • Destination Maternity opens 46 in-store shops in Mexico

    Philadelphia -- Destination Maternity Corp. announced the start of its planned expansion into Mexico with the opening of 46 Destination Maternity  branded shop-in-shops through a previously announced international franchise agreement with El Puerto de Liverpool, S.A.B. de C.V., the largest department store operator in Mexico.

  • Eddie Bauer to launch exclusive footwear collection

    Eddie Bauer is expanding into footwear territory. The new brand’s new footwear collection is set to debut online and in store July 28.

  • Belk teams up with the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders

    Belk has entered into a three-year partnership agreement with the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders (DCC). The agreement includes endorsements, appearances and numerous co-branded marketing initiatives.

    During October, Belk will also be the exclusive provider of the iPromise clothing line for the benefit of Susan G. Komen outside of the Dallas Cowboys Pro Shops.

  • T.J.Maxx conducts live fashion experiment

    Framingham, Mass. -- T.J.Maxx partnered with developmental and fashion psychologist Prof. Karen Pine to conduct a live fashion experiment that shows how women use fashion to make themselves feel proud, empowered and happy.

    Last year, T.J.Maxx conducted a study that found that women aren't fashion victims but rather use fashion as a tool to express their personalities (77%) and individuality (74%).

  • Bauer Performance Sports bolster board

    Bauer Performance Sports, a leading designer and manufacturer of high performance sports equipment and apparel, has appointed Karyn O. Barsa as an independent director of the company.

    Barsa has led numerous global premium brands and has been a member of the board of directors of Deckers Outdoor Corporation since 2008. Barsa served as the CEO at Coyuchi, from 2009-13 and has also served as the CEO of Investor's Circle and Smith & Hawken.
