Tuscaloosa, Ala. -- Dallas-based Cypress Equities said that local fashion boutique Soca Clothing will open a new store at Midtown Village, located in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

The new 1,400-sq.-ft. store is slated to open in September.

Midtown Village is a 350,000-sq.-ft. mixed-use community in the heart of Tuscaloosa featuring retail and restaurant space, as well as office suites.
 

PARIS — Gap Inc. has announced plans to open its first Banana Republic store in France in Paris in early December. Synonymous with culture, quality, heritage and style, the store will be , one of the most popular international shopping destinations in the world.

The 15,952 sq. ft. Paris flagship store will be located on Avenue des Champs Élysées and will occupy more than two floors.

Brisbane Calif. -- Bebe Stores reported Thursday that profit for the fourth quarter doubled to $4.7 million, from $2 million in the year-ago period.

Revenue rose 8% to $132.3 million, compared with $122.1 million last year and beating Wall Street expectations of $126.1 million. Same-store sales grew 7%.

For the year, the company narrowed its loss to $1.8 million, from $5.2 million in fiscal 2010. Annual revenue increased 3% to $493.3 million.

Warrendale, Pa. -- Rue21 reported Wednesday that net income for the quarter ended July 30 rose 20% to $7.7 million, from $6.4 million a year earlier. Revenue surged 21% to $172.8 million, topping Wall Street expectations.

Same-store sales for the period for flat, and the teen retailer said it faced dwindling inventory on summer merchandise, which it plans to remedy in the 2012 summer shopping season.

During the second quarter, Rue21 opened 34 stores, closed one and converted 14 to the larger rue21 etc! format.
 

San Francisco -- Guess reported Wednesday that profit for the second quarter dipped 9.1% on a hefty settlement charge.

The retailer said that net income fell to $60.7 million from $66.8 million, as it was hit by a $19.5 million settlement charge.

Revenue for the quarter rose 17% to $677.2 million from $577.1 million, beating analysts’ estimates.

 

SAN FRANCISCO — Gap Inc. announced that it plans to open its first stores in Vietnam and Guam through its franchise channel. In Vietnam, the first Gap stores will open this October followed by the first Banana Republic store in 2012. The first Gap store will open in Guam in 2012. The company first made its products available to consumers in this region last year through its international online shipping provider.

San Francisco -- Gap said Tuesday it plans to open stores in both Vietnam and Guam as part of the retailer’s efforts to ramp up overseas expansion.

A Gap store is slated to open in Vietnam in October, followed by a Banana Republic store in late 2012.

The first two Gap stores will open in Ho Chi Minh City as part of a franchise deal with Imex Pan Pacific, with additional stores set for Hanoi in 2012.

Birmingham, Ala. -- Hibbett Sports said its second-quarter earnings rose 48%, boosted by growing same-store sales. The company also raised its fiscal 2012 earnings guidance.

The chain earned $5.9 million in the three months that ended July 30, up from $4 million in the same quarter last year. Revenue climbed more than 9% to $153.1 million.

The performance topped Wall Street expectations.

Same-store sales rose  6%.
