  • Ross Dress for Less expands in Colorado

    Ross Dress for Less is expanding its store base in Colorado. The specialty apparel retailer will open a new store in Fort Collins, Colorado on Oct. 10.

    The 25,000-sq.-ft. relocation is in the newly renovated Renaissance on the Front Range development (previously Foothills Mall). The opening is part of the retailer’s 2015 expansion program, totaling approximately 70 new locations during the year.

    New York -- Department store retailer Bealls Inc. has taken the wraps off its new specialty concept targeted at millennials.

    Called Bunulu, the new format made its debut at Coconut Point Mall in Estero, Florida. Two additional locations — at St. Johns Town Center, Jacksonville, Florida, and The Garden Mall, Palm Beach, Florida — are set to open by the end of this year.

  • Footwear brand adds two new exec positions

    Long Island City, N.Y. -- Steve Madden has made two key executive promotions.

    The company announced that Amelia Newton Varela has been named to the newly created position of president, and Karla Frieders has been appointed to the newly created position of chief merchandising officer.

    Varela has more than 17 years of experience with Steve Madden in various roles, most recently as executive VP of wholesale.

    Internet retailers entering the physical space continues to be a growing trend, if the new Sole Society store in Santa Monica, Calif., is any indication.

    The company opened the doors to its first brick-and-mortar retail store at Santa Monica Place this week. Launched in 2011, the Los Angeles-based online footwear brand kicked up buzz by delivering stylish $100-and-under shoes directly to consumers' doors.

  • GameStop gets into the collectibles business

    Online retailer ThinkGeek is teaming up with GameStop on a new concept retail store focused entirely on collectibles.

    The first store will open in the Florida Mall in Orlando on Sept. 25.
