  • Wet Seal names PacSun exec as merchandising head

    Foothill Ranch, Calif. - Christine Lee has been appointed executive VP and chief merchandising officer, starting on Sept. 3. Lee served as senior VP/general merchandise manager, women’s apparel, accessories and design at Pacific Sunwear of California Inc since 2010.

    Prior to Pacific Sunwear, Lee spent 18 years with Urban Outfitters Inc. Brieane Breuer, who joined PacSun in 2007 and is the company's current VP of women's design, will replace Lee on an interim basis.

     

  • Christopher & Banks continues making changes to leadership

    Christopher & Banks has promoted Peter G. Michielutti to EVP, COO and CFO, just a day after the company named former National Stores executive Lynn C. Derry as SVP and general merchandise manager.

    The move is part of the company’s growth strategy.

    Michielutti will be responsible for the company’s finance, accounting, internal audit, investor relations, real estate, tax, risk management, information technology and supply chain and logistics functions. He joined the company in April 2012 as SVP and CFO.

  • Hilldale to launch redevelopment

    Madison, Wisconsin -- Hilldale, a 675,000-sq.-ft. center in Madison, Wisconsin, is preparing to launch a major redevelopment that will add 53,000 sq. ft. of new retail and restaurant space built in an outdoor streetscape. As part of the redevelopment, Kate Spade New York, Lucky Brand, Michael Kors and Sperry Top-Sider will join the existing roster of national and local retailers, restaurants and specialty boutiques. The center is owned and operated by WS Development, Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts.

  • Zant named president at Belk

    Regional department store operator Belk wasted no time filling its president and head merchant position after Kathryn Bufano vacated those positions to become CEO of The Bon-Ton Stores.

    Within minutes of Bon-Ton’s announcement that it had hired Bufano, Belk named David Zant president and chief merchandising officer, effective August 11. Zant has served as EVP and general merchandise manager of men’s, home and kids since 2008 and in his new role will report to Tim Belk, chairman and CEO of the 299-unit chain.

  • Bath & Body Works to join Legends Outlets Kansas City

    Kansas City, Kansas -- Bath & Body Works will open a 3,010-sq.-ft. store at designer outlet Legends Outlets Kansas City on Aug. 4.

    Bath & Body Works will occupy the space next to Ann Taylor Factory Store by the Civic Courtyard Fountain.  

    Other recent additions at Legends Outlets Kansas City include the only area Pizza Studio, Woody’s Automotive concept, Nail Envy spa and the Coach Factory pop-up location.

  • Men’s Wearhouse Q2 same-store sales up 3.6% so far

    Fremont, Calif. – The Men’s Wearhouse reported same-store sales growth of 3.6% for the second quarter of fiscal 2014 as of July 19. The retailer’s second quarter ends Aug. 2.

    In addition, as of July 19 same-stores sales in Men’s Wearhouse’s Jos. A. Bank division, which was purchased in June 2014, were up 2.4%. Same-store sales at the Moore’s division were up 8.3%.

  • Report: Meijer focuses on apparel

    Grand Rapids. Mich. – Meijer is reportedly focusing on making its apparel, footwear and accessories assortment more appealing to fashion-conscious customers. According to the Detroit News, Meijer is taking steps including redesigning its stores, hiring outside consultants and launching a multimedia marketing campaign to improve the appeal of apparel and related categories.
