  • Green Dot adds former Amex exec to strengthen prepaid card business

    Green Dot Corporation has hired Thien Truong as SVP of business development and sales. Truong comes to Green Dot from American Express, where he most recently served as VP of retail and mall channels for the U.S. Payment Options group.

    While at American Express, Truong led the expansion of the brand's prepaid solutions, including the nationwide launch of its prepaid card, Serve.

  • Kahuna helps businesses generate mobile purchases

    Kahuna, a marketing automation company for mobile, is touting its new Conversion Campaigns as a “first-of-its-kind solution” that it says can translate consumer interest into “significant” mobile sales and revenue.

    According to Kahuna, its customers, such as 1-800-Flowers and Karmaloop, have already experienced an 18 to 33% uplift in revenue from these mobile users thanks to Conversion Campaigns.

    Macy’s has added Annie Young-Scrivner, EVP of Starbucks Coffee Company and president of its Teavana business, to its board of directors.

  • Survey: CEOs maintain traditional supply chain focus

    Scottsdale, Ariz. – Although 50% of CEOs say that their supply chain can be a strategic differentiator in the new omni-channel customer paradigm, 83% of worldwide CEOs believe that their retail supply chains are currently “not optimal” for today’s changing retail environment.

  • Starbucks shakes up afternoons with soda, sandwiches

    Seattle – Starbucks appears to be targeting afternoon shoppers with new soda and sandwich offerings. Starting June 24, Starbucks is expanding its cold beverage portfolio with the addition of Fizzio handcrafted sodas at about 3,500 U.S. locations.

    Fizzio sodas are carbonated fresh behind the counter and debut in three flavors. Starbucks estimates the global carbonated beverage market is worth $415 billion.
