Green Dot adds former Amex exec to strengthen prepaid card business

Green Dot Corporation has hired Thien Truong as SVP of business development and sales. Truong comes to Green Dot from American Express, where he most recently served as VP of retail and mall channels for the U.S. Payment Options group.



While at American Express, Truong led the expansion of the brand's prepaid solutions, including the nationwide launch of its prepaid card, Serve.



“Thien is a talented executive with great experience in both financial services and retail," said Kostas Sgoutas, chief revenue officer for Green Dot. "He will be an important addition to our team as we seek to increase our retail distribution and identify attractive new channels for product expansion.”



While at American Express, Truong was also responsible for managing the company’s U.S. gift card business. Prior to his time at American Express, Truong served in various sales management and corporate strategy roles at Procter & Gamble, Nestlé Waters and Frito Lay, a division of PepsiCo.
