  • Divaris leases nearly 7,000 sq. ft. to Goodwill

    Washington, D.C. — Divaris Real Estate has announced that Goodwill has signed a 6,954-sq. ft. lease at Divaris-leased Maddex Square Shopping Center in Shepherdstown, W. Va.

    Divaris
    represented the landlord in the lease negotiations. Food Lion and McDonalds anchor Maddex Square.

     

  • RadioShack rolls out new concept stores, goes ‘retro’ in Fort Worth, Texas

    RadioShack is taking its new concept store to Philadelphia, Detroit and Fort Worth, but the specialty retailer is going retro for its hometown location in downtown Fort Worth’s Sundance Square.

    The Philly location can be found in Bakers Square Shopping Center at 2920 Roberts Ave., and the Detroit location in Gateway Marketplace at 1347 W. Eight Mile. And set to open Oct. 30, the Fort Worth location will be the first new concept store to feature a custom design.

  • Fountain Mathes I acquires shopping center portfolio

    New York -- Fountain Capital and Cheney & Mathes Properties have announced through their partnership, Fountain Mathes I, that they have acquired a 450,000-sq.-ft. portfolio of retail shopping centers with 16 properties in 10 states. Each center is shadow-anchored by Wal-Mart projects.

    The centers largely contain national credit tenants such as AT&T, Cato, Dollar Tree, GameStop, Hibbett Sports, Payless and Shoe Show. The portfolio is 95% occupied.

  • Golf Galaxy opens interactive store in Las Vegas Nov. 1

    Pittsburgh - Golf Galaxy plans to open its second retail location in Nevada. The retailer will open a 29,000-plus-sq.-ft. store in Henderson, a Las Vegas suburb, on Nov. 1.

    At the store, offerings include services from PGA professionals and certified in-store club technicians; five hitting bays and an indoor demo range; and an on-site, full-service 42-foot tour van modeled after club manufacturers' on-site PGA Tour vans. The store also features a dedicated women's shop, a driving range, and a three-speed putting green.

  • Study: Online retail revenues, attacks surge on Cyber Monday

    Bedford, Mass. – Daily mobile/online retail revenues surge an average of 55% on Cyber Monday (the Monday after Thanksgiving), but a corresponding surge in attacks drives hard losses, on average, as much as $500,000 per hour or $8,000 per minute. In addition, a new study of 1,100 U.S., and U.K., retail IT staffers from RSA and the Ponemon Institute shows that 66% of respondents expect that disruption would result in customer churn that would damage reputation and brand and could push losses as high as $3.4 million from a single hour of disruption.

  • West Elm to open in Mill Valley, Calif.

    Brooklyn, N.Y. -- Home furnishings retailer West Elm announced that it will open a store in Mill Valley, Calif., on Nov. 7. West Elm is owned by Williams-Sonoma.

    Located in The Strawberry Village shopping center, the 10,000-sq.-ft. store will open with the brand’s diverse mix of furniture, home décor, gifts and artist collaborations. The store will also feature an assortment of local, handcrafted products sourced through Etsy.com that include jewelry, wall art, kitchen linens, coasters and candles.

  • Meijer’s all-clean diesel fleet reduces carbon footprint by nearly 60%

    Grand Rapids, Mich. -- Meijer announced that it is now operating one of the largest all-clean diesel fleets in North America. As part of its ongoing green initiatives, the Grand Rapids, Mich.-based retailer's fleet utilized innovative technology to improve fuel efficiency and reduce its carbon footprint by nearly 60% since it first began implementing the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's 2010 near-zero emissions standards three years ago.

  • Full steam ahead for Target’s 33 Canadian store openings in November

    Target Canada is on schedule to open 33 additional Canadian store locations spanning across nine provinces, including its first stores in New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland.

    The retailer plans to open 31 stores Nov. 13, and the remaining two Nov. 22. Target will announce additional store openings beyond 2013 at a later date.
