  • Walgreens' senior suite goes global

    DEERFIELD, Ill. — Walgreens on Tuesday announced several new senior management roles, including an expanded role for CFO Wade Miquelon and the appointment of current SVP and chief strategy officer Robert Zimmerman as the lead executive responsible for the Walgreens-Alliance Boots' "synergy team." Succeeding Zimmerman as chief strategy officer will be Brad Fluegel.

  • CVS Caremark names EVP, general counsel

    WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Caremark has appointed Thomas Moriarty as EVP and general counsel of CVS Caremark.

    Moriarty most recently served as general counsel at the Celgene, a biopharmaceutical company, where he was responsible for global legal strategy and served on the company's management committee. Prior to that, Moriarty was general counsel and corporate secretary at Medco Health Solutions.

  • Best Buy CEO sells $1.19 million of stock

    Minneapolis -- A filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission revealed that Best Buy Inc. CEO Hubert Joly has sold $1.19 million worth of shares of common stock of the company.
     
    Joly sold 65,796 shares at a price of $18.02 per share, according to the SEC filing. According to Best Buy, the stock sale was made to cover taxes associated with stock grants.

     

  • Wet Seal shareholder nominates new slate for board

    Foothill Ranch, Colo. -- The Clinton Group Inc., a 7% shareholder in Wet Seal, made a formal request on Monday to replace most of the retailer’s current board of directors.

  • Gap Inc. names H&M designer as creative director for namesake brand

    San Francisco -- Gap Inc. said Monday it has named Rebekka Bay as creative director and executive VP for Gap Global Design, effective Oct. 1.

    Bay is most noted for conceptualizing, developing and launching the COS brand for Hennes & Mauritz. She spent five years as creative director at COS.

    Bay will be responsible for Women’s, Men’s, 1969, Accessories and Body lines worldwide.

  • Report: Best Buy to move loss-prevention employees to sales floor

    New York -- Best Buy is moving about 2,000 loss-prevention employees in its U.S. locations to focus on selling, Bloomberg reported.  

    Employees who greeted shoppers entering Best Buy  stores and checked receipts when they left will join the ranks of the company’s sales force, according to the report.
