  • Retail software provider names new ops head

    AUSTIN, Texas — Starmount, a software provider focused on helping retailers optimize the shopper experience, has named software development veteran John Filut its new VP operations. Filut will play a crucial role in planning and executing internal operations and processes, including project management best practices and refining the development and delivery of Starmount services and support strategy. In this new role, Filut will also provide overall planning and management of IT.

  • Saks to leave Dallas Galleria, Belk moving in

    New York City -- Saks Inc. announced Tuesday it will shutter its Saks Fifth Avenue store in the Dallas Galleria on June 15. The retailer has operated a store in Dallas since 1982, and the summer closing will leave some 120 associates with the choice of transfer or severance.

    Simultaneous with the Saks departure announcement was news from department store chain Belk that it will fill the vacated Galleria space with a $20-million, 170,000-sq.-ft. flagship store that starts construction in July and is slated to open spring 2014. 

  • Former QVC chief to head merchandising at Rue La La

    BOSTON — Private sale site, Rue La La, has appointed Darlene Daggett as a president overseeing merchandising, programming and member experience. Daggett will report to Ben Fischman, founder and CEO of Rue La La and be headquartered in the Boston and New York offices.

    Daggett's background includes 18 years at QVC Inc., one of the world's largest e-commerce retailers. In her most recent role, as president of QVC U.S. Commerce, she was responsible for merchandising, planning, broadcasting and new business development.

  • Macy’s senior management changes include new position of chief omni-channel officer

    Cincinnati -- Macy’s on Monday announced a series of changes to its senior executive leadership team, effective immediately. The changes include the creation of the newly-created role of chief omni-channel officer, which will be filled by Robert B. Harrison, previously Macy’s EVP for omni-channel strategy. Harrison, who will join the company’s executive committee, will report directly to Macy’s chief executive Terry Lundgren.
     

  • Macy's realigns exec team on CAO's retirement

    CINCINNATI — Macy's has assigned additional responsibilities to several of its executives following the retirement of Thomas Cole, chief administrative officer, who is leaving the company in May after 41 years of service.

  • Macy’s Lundgren honored with a ‘Father of the Year’ award

    New York -- The National Father’s Day Council, a nonprofit that recognizes modern day role model fathers, has named Terry Lundgren, chairman, president and CEO of Macy’s Inc., as a recipient of its 2013 “Father of the Year” Award.

    Lundgren joins President Bill Clinton, founder of the William J. Clinton Foundation and 42nd President of the United States, as a fellow honoree. The awards will be presented at the 72nd Annual Father of the Year Awards in New York City on June 11.

  • Macy's CEO wins mother of all dad awards

    NEW YORK, NY — The National Father’s Day Council, a nonprofit that recognizes modern day role model fathers, has named Terry Lundgren, chairman, president and CEO of Macy’s Inc., as a recipient of its 2013 "Father of the Year" Award. Lundgren joins President Bill Clinton, Founder of the William J. Clinton Foundation and 42nd President of the United States, as a fellow honoree. The awards will be presented at the 72nd Annual Father of the Year Awards in New York City on Tuesday, June 11. 

  • Hilco seeks to elevate retail consulting biz

    Hilco Trading wants to build the next great retail consulting business and consistent with that goal it has hired Antony Karabus to serve as president of Hilco’s retail consulting arm and elevated current CEO Greg Rubin to the role of chairman.
