  • Sur La Table announces senior merchandising exec promotion

    Seattle -- Sur La Table said Thursday it has promoted Jacob Maurer to the position of SVP – general merchandising manager for the kitchen goods chain.

    The promotion is effective immediately, and will put Maurer in charge of all merchandise buying and product development functions for the company.

  • Skullcandy founder resumes CEO role

    PARK CITY, Utah -- Skullcandy, a manufacturer of performance headphones, has named Rick Alden, the company's founder, former CEO and a current director, as Interim CEO. Jeremy Andrus has decided to step down from his positions as resident and CEO and a company director to join a private investment firm. He will serve as a consultant to the company over the next 12 months.

  • Reports: Delhaize America to cut 500 jobs

    New York -- Delhaize America is cutting 500 jobs, according to published reports.

    News media in North Carolina reported that the Belgian supermarket operator's American subsidiary would cut 350 jobs and 150 open positions as part of a reorganization. Employees of the company received notifications of the layoffs via email, according to the reports.

  • Sur La Table names head of general merchandising

    SEATTLE -- Kitchen goods retailer, Sur La Table, has promoted Jacob Maurer to the position of SVP, general merchandising manager.

    The promotion is effective immediately, and will put Maurer in charge of all merchandise buying and product development functions for the company.

    Maurer joined Sur La Table in 2003 as a store manager, opening the chain’s first Massachusetts store located in Chestnut Hill. In October 2004 he joined the company’s merchandising team in Seattle and rose to VP merchandising by 2009.

     

     

  • Whirlpool, Habitat build hope in Benton Harbor

    BENTON HARBOR, Mich. -- Whirlpool Corporation (WHR) and Harbor Habitat for Humanity have completed construction on the homes built in partnership with Tynisha Murphy and the Patterson family, dedicating the homes in a ceremony that took place Dec. 8. The builds took place on side-by-side lots in the Harbor Shores community of Benton Harbor.

  • Predictix names head of Europe, Middle East and Africa sales

    ATLANTA — Retail merchandising solutions provider, Predictix, has named Tom Fischer managing director for Europe, Middle East and Africa. Fischer will be responsible for managing Predictix’ EMEA sales, client implementation and support activities in a growing international business.
