  • Replacement named for long-time Williams-Sonoma president

    SAN FRANCISCO — Janet Hayes, currently the president of Pottery Barn Kids and PBteen, will become president of the Williams-Sonoma brand, effective March 20. She replaces Richard Harvey, who will be leaving the company on May 3, 2013, after 30 years of service.

  • Weber-Stephen names CEO

    Weber-Stephen Products, a manufacturer of charcoal and gas grills, has named Thomas Koos as CEO, effective April 1. Current Weber-Stephen president and CEO Jim Stephen will become executive chairman of the company.

    "Tom's global business experience, passion for building brands and deep knowledge of our distribution channels makes him a great fit for Weber," said Stephen. "I look forward to working with Tom and our team at Weber as we continue to expand and promote our strong brand around the world."

  • Bi-Lo names president

    Jacksonville, Fla. — Anthea Jones has assumed the role of president at Bi-Lo. He will continue to serve as SVP operations.

    Jones comes to the position from the Bi-Lo side of the recent merger between regional supermarkets Bi-Lo and Winn-Dixie. He signed on with Bi-Lo in 1999 after 17 years at Food Lion. He also is the immediate past board chairman for the Global Market Development Center.

    Jones succeeds Michael Byars in the position. Randall Onstead continues as president and CEO of the combined company, Bi-Lo Holdings.

  • Jo-Ann donates more than $5M in 2012

    HUDSON, Ohio — Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores announced that in 2012 the company’s year-end corporate giving total surpassed $5 million for the first time in the retailer’s history.

  • Fimiani Development adds to statewide leasing team

    Boca Raton, Fla. -- Real estate development firm Fimiani Development said that it has named Lindsey Alexander and Meredith Housman as VPs of leasing for the company.
     
    Alexander and Housman will work with Simon Property Company, Kite Realty Group, Kimco and Office Depot and will focus on landlord representation as well as tenant representation.

    Alexander was previously with Woolbright Development and Housman with Equity One.

  • Redbox names finance, marketing execs

    OAKBROOK TERRACE, Ill. — Redbox, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Coinstar, has named Kiera Hynninen as its SVP marketing and Pamela Smith as its SVP finance. Hynninen will report into Anne Saunders, president of Redbox, and will oversee the company's marketing efforts, including brand growth and a continued focus on strengthening consumer relationships. Smith will report into Galen Smith, incoming CFO of Coinstar, and will be responsible for managing financial planning and analysis, budgeting, financial strategy and deal support for the Redbox line of business.

  • SPECS 2013 opens with Navy Seal, aid for children

    Dallas -- The 49th annual SPECS conference officially kicked off on Monday morning at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas with two kinds of inspiration: Greg Buzek, present of IHL Consulting Group, introduced the Retail Orphan Initiative, and U.S. Navy Seal Scott Taylor presented Afterburner Black Ops, challenging the audience of retailers in design, construction, facilities, store planning and development to use Seal techniques to run their organizations.
