  • Family Dollar taps new SVP, supply chain

    Family Dollar has named Brian D. Hancock as SVP of supply chain, reporting to chairman and CEO Howard R. Levine.

  • Hilco rebrands, adds deals to Steele's

    The Hilco Global Retail Group is rebranding its recently acquired Steele's retail stores as Steele's & Deals. The company also appointed several key executive leaders who will take over new management roles at the retail chain.

    The company feels that the Steele's & Deals name more accurately communicates value to customers.

  • Foodsco opens new Oakland store March 26

    Compton, Calif. – Foodsco will open its first store in Oakland, Calif., on March 26. The new 80,000 sq.-ft. supermarket is located in East Oakland's Foothill Square Shopping Center.

  • Stanbery names partner for leasing and acquisitions

    Bexley, Ohio Stanbery Development has named Marc Hays as a partner. He will focus on finding locations for new developments and acquisitions as well as leasing.

  • Engaged Capital retains help to set direction for Abercrombie

    Newport Beach, Calif. - Engaged Capital, an investment firm specializing in small and mid-cap North American equities and stockholder of Abercrombie & Fitch Co. has retained an independent global professional services firm to assist Engaged Capital in setting a new direction for Abercrombie. The firm has decades of experience in the retail and apparel sector, including the turnaround and restructuring of underperforming businesses.

  • A&P names COO as CEO

    Montvale, N.J. -- The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company (A&P) announced that company COO Paul Hertz has been appointed president and CEO, effective immediately. He succeeds Sam Martin. In January, A&P confirmed Martin’s departure.

  • Cabela’s to open Indy-area store in fall 2015

    Sidney, Neb. -- Cabela’s Incorporated plans to open a store in Noblesville, Ind., serving the greater Indianapolis area. Construction is scheduled to begin later in 2014 and the store is expected to open in fall 2015.

    The 80,000-sq.-ft. store will be located in the new Saxony Campus development adjacent to Hamilton Town Center. It will be Cabela’s second Indiana store, joining the Hammond location opened in 2007, and is expected to employ approximately 170 full-time and part-time employees.

  • Supervalu streamlines ops, names new presidents

    Supervalu reduced its organizational structure from three divisions to two and name Kevin Kemp president of the east region and Bill Chew president of the west region.

    The company did not indicate what roles Kemp and Chew played in the organization previously, but did note that the east region will be headquartered in Mechanicsville, VA and the west region will be based in Hopkins, MN near the company’s Eden Prairie headquarters.
