  • New office of the president at Stein Mart

    Stein Mart’s board of directors has appointed D. Hunt Hawkins and Brian R. Morrow to share the newly created office of the president. Both men will continue to report to CEO Jay Stein.

    "Hunt and Brian have made significant contributions in the success of the company," said Stein. "Their promotions are a testament to their leadership that has built a team that has produced seven consecutive quarters of comp store gains, a dramatic departure from the achievements of past management, and reflect the confidence the board and I have in them."

  • Petco names CFO

    San Diego -- Petco has named Larry Rutkowski as executive VP and CFO. Prior to joining Petco, Rutkowski served as  executive VP and CFO for The Warnaco Group, an American textile and clothing corporation, and Primedia, a consumer advertising, new media and publishing company, both in New York.

    Previously, he also held senior financial leadership positions at General Electric and Walt Disney Company.

     

  • Leonard Green managing partner leaves post

    Los Angeles – Peter J. Nolan, 55, one of three managing partners of private equity firm Leonard Green & Partners, is leaving his post. Leonard Green holds investment stakes in major retail chains including J. Crew, Petco, The Container Store, and Topshop/Topman.

    Nolan will serve as a senior advisor to Leonard Green and also serve as a board member of several companies in its portfolio. He is leaving to devote more time to philanthropic activities.

  • Goal Zero taps former REI SVP Lee Fromson as president, COO

    Goal Zero, innovator of portable solar power systems, has appointed former REI SVP of merchandising Lee Fromson to president and COO.

    The company has also made strategic changes to its executive team, with current president and CEO Joe Atkin assuming the role of co-chairman of the board, and founder and chief creative officer Robert Workman becoming CEO.

  • Einstein Bros. automates service relationships with ServiceNow platform

    Lakewood, Colo. – Einstein Noah Restaurant Group, parent company of the Einstein Bros. Bagels, Noah’s New York Bagels and Manhattan Bagel Company brands, has rolled out the cloud-based ServiceNow platform. Einstein retail brands are now automating and managing service relationships across the global enterprise through a single system of record.

    Top executives within Walmart’s international division have been assigned new responsibilities including a new role for the former head of Asian operations overseeing mergers and acquisitions.

  • Supervalu names two new board members

    Minneapolis -- Frank A. (Terry) Savage and Mathew M. Pendo have been elected to the Supervalu board of directors, effective April 24. Savage and Pendo were both appointed to the board as designees of Symphony Investors LLC, under the terms of a tender offer agreement entered into with Symphony Investors and Cerberus Capital Management in connection with Supervalu’s sale of five banners to an affiliate of Symphony Investors.

  • TPN hires industry vet as director of data

    New York - Dynamic retail marketing agency TPN is hiring analytics industry veteran Taymour Matin as managing director, data and analytics, a newly created position. Previously, analytics folded into TPN's planning and perspectives team, but as part of TPN's growth strategy, the new department has been created to better capitalize on the agency's proprietary research and technology-driven retail analytical capabilities.
