  • CEO turnover up in July — and not just in retail

    The month of July saw a big turnover at the top.  
  • Parent company of Winn-Dixie and Bi-Lo taps veteran grocery exec as CEO

    Southeastern Grocers has made a temporary appointment permanent.   The supermarket operator, parent company of Winn-Dixie, Bi-Lo, Fresco y Más, and Harveys, has appointed Anthony Hucker president and CEO, effective immediately. Hucker has served as interim president and CEO since July 1, 2017.  
  • Toys ‘R’ Us in key appointment

    Toys "R" Us named Mark Johnson executive VP, U.S. marketplace operations, effective immediately.    Johnson had been serving as interim executive VP, store operations since May. He joined the company in October 2014 as regional director for stores before being promoted to VP of operations, strategy and execution in 2015.   
  • DSW exec joins beauty retailer

    A veteran retailer has joined the executive team of Sally Beauty.   Sally Beauty Holdings has named Carrie McDermott as president of its Sally Beauty operations in the U.S. and Canada, effective August 29, 2017.  
  • Former Target exec to head up grocery chain

    Houston-based Fiesta Mart has appointed a retail veteran as its new chief executive.   The Hispanic grocery store chain named Sid Keswani as CEO, effective August 9, 2017. He replaced outgoing chief executive Mike Byars.  
  • Pier 1 on hunt for new finance chief

    Pier I Imports' loss is Fossil Group's gain.   Pier 1 Imports announced that Jeffrey N. Boyer, executive VP and CFO, is leaving the company effective October 3, 2017 to become CFO of Fossil Group, where he has been a member of the board of directors since 2007. Pier 1 is appointing an executive search firm to conduct a search for a new CFO.   
  • Fitch names new creative director in North America

    Global retail and brand consultancy Fitch has appointed Andy Barlow creative director.     Barlow will relocate from the U.K. to lead multi-disciplinary creative teams, and work closely with the leadership across North America to grow and broaden the region’s offer. With over 25 years of design experience, agency and client side, Barlow has worked with Tesco, Harrods, and Amazon among others.
