  • Day 2 of BIG Show kicks off with goodwill headliners

    New York -- Monday launched with heavily attended keynote addresses at the National Retail Federation’s 102nd BIG Show at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City.
        
    Former United Nations secretary-general Kofi Annan shared his views about the state of world politics, joined by moderator and Macy’s CEO Terry Lundgren, who also is the outgoing chairman of the NRF.
        

  • PayPal extends reach to 23 retailers nationwide

    New York -- PayPay announced Monday that a total of 23 national retailers are now signed up to accept PayPal in their stores, making the payment solution accepted in more than 18,000 physical retail locations. PayPay also announced that Jamba Juice is testing an order-ahead feature that allows customers to place an order, select a time for pick-up, and pay in advance via the PayPal App – so when they arrive, they can save time and skip the line, grab their food and be on their way.

  • Posiflex announces multi-use industrial PC, foldable terminal

    New York -- Posiflex is announcing two new retail and hospitality products in development -- an ultra-small-footprint Multi-Purpose PC Controller with WiFi and a Foldable Touch Screen Terminal Base, which reduces deployment costs and optimizes user viewing — at the National Retail Federation 2013 Big Show in New York.

  • European Wax Center to open at Murray Hill

    New York -- Winick Realty Group announced that European Wax Center has signed a lease for its first Murray Hill location at 222 East 34th Street, between Second and Third Avenues. The 1,900-sq.-ft., ground-floor store is slated to open this spring.

    The store is part of the newly developed retail at the base of 480-unit luxury apartment building The Anthem.

    Winick Realty Group is exclusively handling retail leasing on the building on behalf of landlord Rosebud Associates.

     

  • Overstock.com, Rewards Network partner on dining loyalty program

    Salt Lake City -- Overstock.com said Thursday it is launching the Club O Dining Rewards program in partnership with Rewards Network.

    The enhancement to the e-retailer’s current loyalty program allows members to automatically receive reward dollars in their Club O account equal to 5% of their total dining bill when they visit participating Club O Dining Rewards restaurants and pay their bill using any credit or debit card they have registered with their Dining Rewards account.   

  • Agree Realty acquires Applebee’s restaurant portfolio

    Farmington Hills, Mich. -- Agree Realty Corp. said Thursday it acquired a portfolio of four Applebee's restaurants, as well as an Advance Auto Parts in late December 2012 for about $10 million.

    These latest acquisitions bring Agree’s 2012 total purchase activity to approximately $81.5 million.

    The recently acquired Applebee's assets are located in Harlingen, Texas, and Wichita Falls, Texas, as well as two properties in Pensacola, Fla. The Advance Auto Parts is located on an outlot to a Walmart Supercenter in Lebanon, Va.

  • Ascena Retail Group nabs new CFO

    SUFFERN, N.Y. — Ascena Retail Group has named Dirk Montgomery as its new EVP and CFO.

    Current EVP and CFO Armand Correia is retiring after 21 years with the specialty retailer, which offers clothing, shoes and accessories for missy and plus-size women and tween girls, under the Justice, Lane Bryant, Maurices, Dressbarn and Catherines brands.

  • Ascena CFO to retire, succeeded by restaurant vet

    Suffern, N.Y. -- Ascena Retail Group Inc. said Tuesday that CFO Armand Correia is retiring after 21 years with the company that is parent to Dressbarn, Justice and other brands.

    Restaurant veteran Dirk Montgomery will succeed Correia, effective Jan. 16. Montgomery most recently served as EVP and chief value chain officer of Bloomin' Brands, which operates the Outback Steakhouse and Bonefish Grill chains.
