  • January 8 is deadline for Retail Store of the Year competition

    New York -- Due to the holiday rush and related closings, Chain Store Age has extended the deadline for its 32nd annual Retail Store of the Year Design Competition until Wednesday, January 8, 2014.

    More than 20 competition categories are featured, including department stores, supermarkets, discounters, restaurants, convenience stores, specialty stores, service, sustainability and pop-up stores. This year, for the first time, the competition also includes the category of in-store digital innovation.

  • Transwestern brokers two East Bay leases

    Walnut Creek, Calif. — Transwestern has brokered leases on behalf of two retail tenants: 9Round Fitness & Kickboxing and Buon Vino Manufacturing.

    9Round Fitness has taken a 1,300-sq.-ft. lease for five years in the Diablo Plaza in San Ramon, Calif.  Buon Vino signed a 1,635-sq.-ft. lease for three years at 1545 Locust St. in downtown Walnut Creek, Calif.

    New York -- Chain Store Age's Retail Store of the Year design competition has added a new category for its 2014 awards: in-store digital innovation. Retailers, design firms, vendors and suppliers are all eligible to submit entries.

  • iSign releases new foodservice advertising solution

    Richmond Hill, Ont. -- Interactive mobile advertising technology provider iSign Media Corp. has developed the Smart Player Kit. The solution is a form of advertising technology that combines digital signage with mobile messaging.

    Through this technology, restaurants can now send real-time discounts and offers to customers’ mobile phones while they’re in close proximity or inside the restaurant ready to make a purchase.

  • Liberty Travel signs into Bedminster, N.J.’s Hills Village

    Bedminster, N.J. — Liberty Travel has leased a 1,853-sq.-ft. space at The Hills Village Center in Bedminster, N.J., according to Levin Management, the exclusive leasing and managing agent for the property.

    Relocation Realty represented Liberty Travel in the transaction. Liberty’s neighbors in the 109,800-sq.-ft. center include Kings Supermarket, CVS, Starbucks, Great Clips, Cold Stone Creamery, The UPS Store, GNC and Subway.

  • New retailers sign into Arbor Lakes in Maple Grove, Minn.

    Minneapolis — The Opus Group has announced office and retail leases and two land sales in the Arbor Lakes development in Maple Grove, Minn.

    Pro Ag Management Inc. will occupy 9,179 sq. ft. on the second floor of the North End Office and Retail Building. With the Pro Ag lease, the center’s office space is now 100% leased. On the retail side, Sola Salon Studios has leased 4,524 sq. ft. of ground-level retail space in the same building. Colliers International brokers represented the tenants as well as Opus in these transactions.
