  • Krispy Kreme plans Africa entry with 31 new stores in South Africa

    Winston-Salem, N.C. - Krispy Kreme (will open 31 stores in South Africa during the next five years. The coffee retailer has signed a development agreement with KK Doughnuts SA (Pty) Ltd, that will mark its first venture into Africa.

    Krispy Kreme has more than 1,000 stores in 24 countries.

  • The Howard Hughes Corp. signs retail tenants at The Metropolitan Downtown Columbia

    Columbia, Md. – The Howard Hughes Corp. has signed several retail and restaurant leases for the public promenade at The Metropolitan Downtown Columbia, a new luxury apartment community located in Columbia, Maryland. As part of the transformation, The Howard Hughes Corp. recently completed the renovation of the historic Rouse Building into a flagship Whole Foods Market and a 27,000-sq.-ft.luxury spa and wellness center, as well as kicked off a multi-stage renovation of Merriweather Post Pavilion.

  • Visa Checkout adds Dunkin’ Donuts; partners with Pinterest

    San Francisco - Retailers in the U.S. including Dunkin’ Donuts, Fandango, Sundance Catalog and Williams-Sonoma will now offer Visa Checkout, the online checkout service from Visa Inc. In addition, Pizza Hut, Ticketek and Bonds will offer Visa Checkout in Australia; and Indigo, Roots, Running Room and Simons will offer the service in Canada.

  • Dunkin’ Donuts seeks new franchise stores in Alabama, Mississippi

    Canton, Mass. – Dunkin’ Donuts is recruiting franchisees to develop an estimated 10-plus new Dunkin' Donuts restaurants throughout Mobile, Alabama, and Biloxi and Jackson, Mississippi. In addition, a number of existing operating restaurants may be available for purchase.

    New York – Shake Shack Inc. is reopening its original Madison Square Park flagship restaurant in New York on May 20. The new and improved Shake Shack store has the exact same look and feel, rebuilt to last for many years to come.

  • McAlister’s Deli to open new stores in Georgia, Florida

    Alpharetta, Ga. - McAlister's Deli has signed three development agreements with new and existing franchisees to open restaurants in Southern Georgia and North, Central and Southwest Florida.

    Existing franchisee DMAC 81 LLC, based in Summerville, South Carolina, plans to open several new restaurants between southern Georgia and northern Florida.

  • Mixed use project breaks ground in Duluth, Ga.

    Duluth, Ga. - Atlanta-based Fuqua Development, along with The Worthing Companies has broken ground on Sugarloaf Market, a 31-acre, mixed-use project located in Duluth, Georgia. Anchored by the organic grocery store Sprouts Farmers Market, Sugarloaf Market will include 75,000-sq.-ft. of retail and 330 luxury apartments.  

    Fuqua Development is the master developer for the project and is developing the commercial component of the project, while The Worthing Companies is developing the residential component.
