  • Dunkin’ Brands names new finance chief

    The parent company of Dunkin' Donuts and Baskin-Robbins has ended its hunt for a new chief financial officer.    Following a comprehensive search for a permanent CFO, Dunkin’ Brands has promoted Kate Jaspon to the position, effective June 5, 2017. Jaspon was appointed the company’s interim CFO when Paul Carbone left the position in April to become COO at a specialty retail chain. She will report directly to Dunkin' Brands' CEO Nigel Travis.

  • Fast-casual chain reveals culprit of recent data breach

    Chipotle Mexican Grill is coming clean about a cyber-attack that targeted the chain last month.   An extensive investigation lead by leading cyber security firms, law enforcement and the payment card networks revealed that malware accessed payment card data used at point-of-sale (POS) devices at certain Chipotle and Pizzeria Locale restaurants between March 24 and April 18. Not all locations were involved, and the specific timeframes vary by location, according to the chain.  
  • One Daytona speeds to finish

    The 300,000-sq.-ft. mixed-use center being erected by International Speedway Corporation across from Daytona Speedway is filling up fast.   Three new tenants have signed on to One Daytona. Sister brands Clair de Lune, a home fragrance store, and Kasa Living, a home décor shop are Canadian brands making their first appearance in the region. Joining the development’s food and beverage roster is Built Custom Burgers, a build-your-own burger concept offering up a long list of toppings at no additional charge.  
  • Phillips Edison and the shopping center of the future

    A decade from now, there’s not likely to be a shopping center — a successful one, at least — without click-and-pick meals, several fitness options, and healthy food and beverage purveyors.   That was the take of Phillips’ Edison’s VP of national accounts Michael Conway during a session at the RECon show. Some things all centers will soon provide, according to Conway:  
  • Motor-themed restaurant/retail concept revs up for U.S. debut

    Start your engines: Ace Café, a motorcycle and car-themed chain, has parked itself in downtown Orlando.     The 35,000-sq-ft. entertainment, dining and retail destination is the first North American location of the London-based brand and the sixth Ace Cafe in the world. Ace Cafe Orlando spans two floors and features a full-service restaurant, four bars, a coffee bar, a stage, a mezzanine that overlooks the main floor dining area and stage, and private and semi-private spaces for groups.  
  • Report: Facebook caters to hungry members

    There’s a new Facebook icon that users are sure to “like:” a food ordering service.   Rolling out to select users, Facebook’s new “Order Food” option can be found on its navigation menu — both online and mobile app. The service aggregates all supported restaurants together on one page, making it easier for Facebook users to place orders with their favorite restaurants, according to TechCrunch.  
  • Philly tops list of 10 most affordable retail locations

    Retailers who want a prime location but also one that’s affordable should check out Philadelphia, Chicago and Seattle.
