Mango expands presence in Massachusetts

Mango opened the doors to its newest Massachusetts-based location.

A Barcelona-based fashion brand has opened its second store in the Bay State.

Mango’s newest outpost is in CambridgeSide, a mixed-use retail center in Cambridge, Mass. The store design, a Mediterranean-inspired concept called New Med, transforms the space into a Mediterranean home.

Leaning into sustainability and seamless architectural elements, the store features warm and neutral shades. It also highlights traditional and eco-friendly materials like ceramic, tuff, wood, marble, esparto and leather which showcases the brand’s spirit and freshness.

This is the retailer’s second Massachusetts-based store. Earlier this year, Mango opened its first location in Boston’s Natick Mall, the biggest shopping center in the state. Both Bay State locations coincide with Mango’s ambitious expansion plan which aims to operate 40 locations in the United States by the end of the year — and the company is off to a strong start.

Mango kicked off its U.S. expansion in 2022 with the opening of its flagship store on Fifth Avenue in New York City. The fashion retailer opened stores in California, Texas and Georgia in 2023, but kicked its expansion into high gear in 2024.

Earlier this year, Mango expanded its presence in California with a store in San Diego. Mango’s new Boston location was the first step in strengthening its presence across the East Coast.

In addition, Mango opened stores in Philadelphia’s King of Prussia shopping center, as well as locations in Washington, D.C.’s Tysons Corner, Westfield Montgomery and Pentagon City shopping centers. There is another location planned for Washington’s 950 F, in the heart of the downtown shopping district.

By increasing its brick-and mortar-presence, Mango expects the U.S. to become one of its top three markets in terms of turnover by 2026, the company said in a statement.

Mango’s newest location is also a catalyst for the reimagination of CambridgeSide. The developer plans to welcome additional new retailers over the coming months, as well as the opening of CanalSide Food + Drink, an energetic global food concept featuring waterfront views, a collection of 14 innovative eateries, and a centrally located bar.

“CambridgeSide is undergoing exciting enhancements including the addition of international fashion favorite Mango and the soon-to-open CanalSide Food + Drink – making the reimagined CambridgeSide one of Boston’s most desirable destinations,” said Melissa LaVita, regional marketing director of CambridgeSide.
