Macy’s-Disney partnership includes in-store shops, parade balloon

Macy’s is entering a holiday collaboration with Disney that includes dedicated store-in-store locations and the debut of an iconic character in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. 

Following are highlights from the partnership:

In-store Disney shops

Through Jan. 1, 2025, there will be a dedicated “Mickey and Minnie Shop” at Macy's Herald Square New York City flagship and across 200 select stores nationwide. The Herald Square flagship will host a special concession stand and interactive AR experience that will allow customers to see themselves as Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade “balloon handlers,” as well as shop exclusive Disney collection products in-person.

To celebrate this partnership, Lego will host customer build events in Mickey and Minnie Shops in select Macy’s stores nationwide on Saturday, Nov. 2. Other Macy’s store-in-store partnerships have included collaborations with It’Sugar and Toys ’R’ Us.  

Currently, six Macy’s stores are also featuring in-store holiday pop-up shops from 1-800-Flowers.com banner Harry & David.

Merchandise

The Disney in-store holiday shops feature an exclusive branded assortment, including apparel, accessories and collectibles for kids and adults. The assortment also highlights new and exclusive Disney artwork by Jeff Shelly, Disney’s director of character art.

This limited-edition Disney collection with more than 100 items in total is now available on macys.com and Macy’s mobile app as well as select Macy’s stores nationwide.

In addition, Macy's and Disney have collaborated with third-party brands to create new capsules and limited-edition items exclusively available at Macy’s, including BaubleBar, Stoney Clover Lane, Kate Spade, Citizen, Funko, Hallmark, Swarovski and Loungefly.

Thanksgiving Day parade

The 2024 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade (Thursday, Nov, 28) will mark the debut of the Minnie Mouse character balloon. The Macy’s-Disney parade collaboration began with the first appearance of a Mickey Mouse balloon in 1934.

Macy’s currently operates over 700 stores under the banners Macy’s, Bloomingdales and Bluemercury.
