Kroger teams with Instacart to combine prescription & grocery delivery
Kroger is expanding the services it offers in partnership with a major online delivery platform.
The grocery giant is enabling customers to have prescriptions delivered combined with grocery orders placed for delivery by Instacart, building on a collaboration launched in 2021 that provides delivery of online Kroger orders in as fast as 30 minutes.
To place a combined grocery-prescription order with Instacart, Kroger customers can log into or enroll in the grocer’s My Prescriptions program and start their order once their medication is ready. Shoppers then select delivery and choose their store pharmacy and which prescriptions they want delivered.
At checkout, customers choose grocery and prescription delivery, then add their groceries and confirm an eligible time slot. Customers can track their order until it’s delivered to their door via Instacart.
Kroger is following up the initial launch of combined grocery-prescription deliveries with Instacart at its Harris Teeter regional Southeast grocery chain earlier in August 2026. Uber Technologies Inc. Kroger also offers third-party delivery in partnership with DoorDash.

In addition, Kroger offers proprietary delivery of grocery orders in partnership with U.K.-based online grocer Ocado Group, using automated customer fulfillment center (CFC) facilities which combine vertical integration, machine learning, and robotics with fast-delivery service for fresh food. Recently, Kroger has been scaling back its use of the centers and its partnership with Ocado, including closing some CFCs and canceling the planned openings of others.
Kroger looks to e-commerce
E-commerce remains a key part of Kroger’s business. In its most recent earnings report, total company sales were $46.1 billion, a 2% year over year increase from $45.1 billion, while adjusted e-commerce sales growth of 19% helped drive overall sales improvement.
Kroger also just named Nate Faust as executive VP and chief e-commerce officer, effective Sept. 1, 2026. He brings more than two decades of building and scaling online businesses to the company.
Faust most recently spent three years as the founder and CEO of e-commerce and logistics delivery startup Olive, which partnered with brands like Rhone, Cynthia Rowley and Rent the Runway to create a “waste-free delivery and returns experience.”
