Ikea is spotlighting its new range of cooking and eating essentials with an immersive pop-up experience in New York City.

Located in the Union Square area of Manhattan, the “Ikea House Warming” pop-up is also designed to celebrate the 40th anniversary of both Ikea in the U.S. and its signature meatballs. It will be open Oct. 2-26, on Thursday through Sunday.

Entering the pop-up, guests will experience a journey of all things food, according to Ikea, from storing and organizing, preparing and cooking, setting and serving, to eating and cleaning. Additionally, they can purchase products directly from the House Warming shop and take their favorite cooking and eating items home.

The pop-up will feature a daily “(m)eatball” happy hour, a children's scavenger hunt, a 40th anniversary photo moment, personalization of its popular FRAKTA shopping bag and a kitchen planning studio. There will also be a variety of kitchen demos and tastings.

Ikea said it has sold over 1.4 billion meatballs each year since the product was introduced in 1985. The retailer is introducing a new food ball, the falafel, that supports its efforts to feature more plant-based options on the menu. It will be available in select Ikea U.S. restaurants and bistros starting in January 2026.

In the pop-up and throughout the next year, Ikea plans to introduce more than 200 new products connected to cooking and eating, such as dining tables, storage solutions that help prevent food waste and a more versatile and smarter kitchen range.

With Ikea House Warming, we wanted to go beyond showcasing our delicious food options and highlight how Ikea has a solution for every aspect of cooking and eating,” said Paul Anderson, home furnishing and retail design leader at Ikea U.S. ”We're providing an immersive experience in New York City where you can shop, taste and dream the possibilities of creating your own space at home to gather and connect around food."
