7-Eleven s fulfilling orders for Grubhub’s new convenience storefront.
Grubhub is introducing Grubhub Goods, an online convenience store with inventory courtesy of 7-Eleven.
The on-demand delivery platform is expanding its Grubhub Goods branded online convenience concept from more than a dozen pilot locations in Manhattan to over 3,000 locations across the country. Grubhub is collaborating with 7-Eleven, an existing delivery partner, to support this national expansion.
The Grubhub Goods locations with 7-Eleven reach the vast majority of Grubhub's customers nationwide and feature a selection of 7-Eleven's most popular convenience items, including energy drinks, ice cream, and personal care products, delivered by Grubhub drivers. This expansion to thousands of Grubhub Goods locations in collaboration with 7-Eleven builds on Grubhub's existing owned Grubhub Goods location in Brooklyn, N.Y., where the inventory and delivery is managed by Grubhub.
Other on-demand delivery platforms have also launched digital convenience and grocery storefronts. In August 2020, DoorDash opened a new e-commerce channel called “DashMart.”
DashMart offers both household essentials and local restaurant products for on-demand delivery. Assortment includes thousands of convenience, grocery and restaurant items, including ice cream, chips, cough medicine and dog food, spice rubs, and packaged desserts. DoorDash is partnering with both national and local convenience, grocery and foodservice retailers. DashMart stores are owned, operated, and curated by DoorDash.
In September 2021, September 2021 Instacart launched the Instacart Convenience Hub, fulfilled by Kroger. Customers in nearly every major U.S. city can use the Instacart Convenience Hub to shop for convenience products 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with free priority delivery in as fast as 30 minutes for Instacart Express members on orders over $10.
Instacart followed this offering up in November 2021 with a Dollar Store Hub, which lets customers browse deals and additional savings from roughly 14,000 discounters including Dollar Tree, which recently began offering nationwide Instacart delivery from more than 6,800 stores; as well as chains including 99 Cents Only Store, Five Below, and Family Dollar. The company is also offering a new Deals Tab, which features what it says are millions of dollars in savings with daily coupons from retailers and CPG companies. Customers can visit the tab to browse sales in their area and obtain savings.
"Diners have come to expect more choices when they land on Grubhub, including convenience options, which we see as a natural extension of our marketplace and a way to bring more value to the entire Grubhub ecosystem," said Kyle Goings, director of growth and new verticals at Grubhub. "We've been working with 7-Eleven for years to offer their locations on the Grubhub marketplace, and it was a no-brainer to team up with the convenience leader again and bring their operational expertise and scale to Grubhub Goods. Together we are making it even easier for diners to order convenience items and satisfy any quick cravings right from the Grubhub app."
To celebrate the national launch of Grubhub Goods with 7-Eleven, Grubhub is offering customers 50% off on orders of $15 or more.
