Shipt, the wholly owned online delivery subsidiary of Target Corp., is bringing in a familiar face as its next chief executive.

Raj Kapoor, who previously served as COO of Shipt from 2022 to 2025 and has since held title of VP of marketplace at Target, will rejoin Shipt in the position of CEO effective Monday, Oct. 18. During his time as COO, Kapoor scaled the Shipt fulfillment engine and led day-to-day operations.

Since 2025, Kapoor has served as senior vice president of marketplace at Target, where he helped oversee operations for the Target Plus marketplace. Previously, Kapoor served as an executive at Lyft and extended warranty and protection provider SquareTrade (now Allstate Protection Plans).

“What differentiates Shipt is the combination of innovative retail technology and our unwavering commitment to quality and service,” Kapoor said. “I’m excited to rejoin Shipt, work with Target and our partners, and lead a team whose care and dedication I know firsthand. My focus is simple: enhance convenience for our customers, empower our shopper and driver community, and strengthen business performance across our offerings.”

Kapoor will succeed current Shipt CEO Kamau Witherspoon, who has filled that role for more than four years. During his tenure, Witherspoon oversaw the expansion of its offerings across same-day and next-day delivery and integrating the Shipt marketplace as a benefit in the Target Circle 360 loyalty program.

After serving more than 15 years across the Target enterprise, Witherspoon has decided to pursue other opportunities. He will remain in his role through late October to help support a smooth transition.

“Shipt’s technology, delivery expertise and commitment to service create an elevated experience for Target guests and Shipt customers,” said Sarah Travis, Shipt board chair and Target chief digital and revenue officer. “As digital shopping and fulfillment become increasingly connected, Shipt’s operational strengths and innovative culture continue raising the bar for convenience, reliability and service. Raj knows this business, understands the consumer and brings commercial and operating experience to lead Shipt’s next chapter.”

Shipt is an independently operated, wholly owned subsidiary of Target Corp. headquartered in Birmingham, Ala., with additional hubs in San Francisco and Minneapolis. Kapoor will be based in the San Francisco Bay Area and travel regularly to Birmingham and Minneapolis.
