Add freestanding brick-and-mortar retail to the resume of the legendary Martha Stewart.

The world’s first Martha Stewart store has opened at City Centre Mirdif in Dubai, followed by a second location at the Dubai Hills Mall. The stores are operated through Marquee Brands, which acquired the Martha Stewart brand of home furnishings and other branded products and media in 2019. As part of the deal, Marquee said Stewart would continue to guide the brand she founded.

“This global debut represents a new chapter for one of our most iconic brands, bringing Martha’s timeless taste, trusted quality and style expertise to the Middle East for the first time in a standalone retail format,” stated Marquee Brands.

The Martha Stewart stores are operated in partnership with Apparel Group, a global fashion and lifestyle retail conglomerate based in Dubai, which operates more than 2,300 stores in 14 countries for more than 85 brands.

“We’re proud to partner with leaders like Apparel Group to expand globally and deliver innovative retail experiences to new audiences,” stated Marquee Brands.

According to a report by WWD, additional Martha Stewart stores will open in India, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

“We’ve created a beautifully designed space filled with products that I personally love and use,” Stewart said in a statement provided to WWD. “I think customers will find inspiration and plenty of practical ideas for making their homes more beautiful, comfortable and functional.”

In the WWD story, Stewart said the design of the store was inspired by her home in Bedford, N.Y., with everything from the color palette to the building materials and architectural details “informed by Bedford.”

The Martha Stewart stores average 2,000 sq. ft. to 2,500 sq. ft., and carry Stewart’s bedding and bath items, as well as cookware, baking tools and entertaining essentials, the report said.
