Costco expands Instacart delivery to Europe
Costco Wholesale Corp. is bringing same-day delivery via Instacart to two new countries.
The wholesale retail giant is launching its first-ever same-day delivery websites in France and Spain, supported by Instacart technology including the Storefront Pro end-to-end customizable e-commerce solution built specifically for supermarket retailers, as well as fulfillment services.
Costco is now offering same-day delivery websites in each country, with initial rollout including delivery from all Costco locations in France and Spain. Notable locations include the Paris metropolitan area and Mulhouse in France, as well as Bilbao, Madrid, Seville and Zaragoza in Spain.
Costco members in France and Spain can now place orders directly through the retailer’s websites. Orders are fulfilled and delivered from the store to the member's home same day. Fulfillment models in each country align with local laws, regulations and market conditions.
Instacart is partnering with European-partner companies in each country at launch for the picking, packing and delivery of orders. Members will also be able obtain same-as-in-store pricing, giving them access to the same costs they expect in-store, with a flat service fee per order.
Costco initially began collaborating with Instacart to offer same-day delivery from stores in the U.S. and Canada in 2020 and has been providing curbside pickup at select stores in partnership with Instacart since 2021.
"Online ordering and delivery gives members in France and Spain greater flexibility in how they shop Costco's assortment and build on the services we already offer," said Pierre Riel, executive VP, Costco Wholesale international division at Costco Wholesale. "It's another step in making Costco easier to access while continuing to deliver the value, quality, and service our members expect."
In 2025, Costco began providing additional services through sameday.costco.com, its e-commerce platform based on Instacart, including a no-rush delivery feature that lets customers earn additional savings by being flexible with their delivery window.
