  • Survey: Global PC-based POS market up

    New York City -- The global PC-based point-of-sale market grew a solid 6.9% in 2010, according to new research from IHL Group, a global research and advisory firm.

    Shipments grew in all four major worldwide regions (North America, Europe/Middle East Africa, Latin/South America, and Asia/Pacific). Strong double-digit growth in the Asia/Pacific region was driven by new shipments in China, India, Korea, and Indonesia, according to the research. 

  • Sonic to open at Chesterfield Marketplace

    Richmond, Va. -- McLean, Va.-based The Rappaport Cos. announced that Sonic has leased a three-fourth-acre pad site at Chesterfield Marketplace in Richmond, Va.

    The new restaurant will be located in the former Pizza Hut building, near the shopping center entrance.

    Chesterfield Marketplace is a 400,000-sq.-ft. shopping center featuring a tenant mix that includes The Home Depot, PetSmart, Staples and Ruby Tuesday.

  • New restaurant leases signed at Festival at Manchester Lakes

    Franconia, Va. -- Jacksonville, Fla.-based Regency Centers said it has leased restaurant space in Franconia, Va., to two new retailers at Festival at Manchester Lakes.

    Dunkin’ Donuts has leased 1,800 sq. ft., and Genghis Grill, a build-your-own bowl, fast casual, Asian stir-fry concept, has leased 4,443 sq. ft., bringing the center to 95% leased. Both restaurants plan to open this spring.

  • Davis named Walmart's global consumer chief

    BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Walmart has named Cindy Davis EVP of its global consumer insights business unit created two weeks ago as part of a larger corporate restructuring.

    Davis, who joined Walmart in 2007 and previously served as EVP membership and marketing for Sam’s Club will continue to report to Sam’s Club president and CEO Brian Cornell, although she will be responsible for understanding broad consumer trends world wide and to create advanced analytical tools to support the business.

  • Toys ‘R’ Us/Babies ‘R’ Us to open at Indio Towne Center

    Indio, Calif. -- Jacksonville, Fla.-based Regency Centers said it has signed a lease and begun construction on a new Toys “R” Us/Babies “R” Us store at Indio Towne Center in Indio, Calif.

    The 46,827-sq.-ft. location will replace the retailer’s store in Palm Desert and become its only location in Southern California’s Coachella Valley.

  • MetroPCS to open at 25th Street Shopping Center

    Easton, Pa. -- New York City-based The Lightstone Group announced that wireless provider MetroPCS has signed a 1,080-sq.-ft. lease at the 25th Street Shopping Center, located in Easton, Pa.

    The 25th Street Shopping Center is a 131,000-sq.-ft. retail strip corridor that is home to CVS, Radio Shack, Petco, Retro Fitness, Jenny Craig, McDonald's, Pizza Hut and Sherwin-Williams.

    Los Angeles -- Commercial real estate investment banking firm George Smith Partners, has completed a $17.2 million, two-phase, construction loan transaction in Oxnard, Calif., for Upside Investments.
